Sonocaddie V300 - Couple Of Questions

I'm interested in the Sonocaddie V300 but couldn't find the answers to a couple questions I had, hopefully someone can help me out. I'm hoping to pick up my first gps device soon and everything I've read about the Sonocaddie is positive. Plus, the price is pretty good right now too.

 

- One of the courses I play regularly has the GPS functionality listed on the Sonocaddie website but it doesn't have the scorecard functionality listed. In cases like these is there a generic scorecard in the device I can use (or can I create my own) or am I just SOL?

 

- Is the scorecard info downloadable to desktop PC for stats tracking purposes or is it just stored in the device?

I have the V300 and have a couple of courses that did NOT have scorecards, only GPS. In that case, you get a "generic" card. The holes will all be listed as par 4's. But you can easily change each hole to the actual par.

You can download the scores/stats to THEIR web site. I did that in the beginning, but now use oobgolf (much more detailed). I don't use Sonocaddies scorecard anymore. I use my own custom cards to keep track of stats. I also just bought a laser so that I can really zero in on the pin. I was surprised to see how accurate the V300 is.

On one hole, the sonocaddie gave me a reading of 160 to the middle of the green and the laser told me 165 to the pin. When I got to the green, the pin was actually 5 yards back of center.

The Sonocaddie is a really nice unit. I am surprised at how many people buy Skycaddie and Golf Buddy. The one thing that Sonocaddie lacks is the true green technology that Skycaddie has but you only get yardages whereas the V300 gives you a view of the entire hole and you can map anything you want. And now that I have lasered and compared both, I think the Sonocaddie is the best out there. Dead on accurate... so far.

[color="#FF0000"][/color][color="#FF0000"]Like the previous poster said, you can download it to Sonocaddie's software. It keeps the stats per round but not cumulatively. You might want to consider tracking with other software if you want your rounds combined.[/color]
