Torrey Pines / San Diego

Looking for some advice. I've searched previous threads and read what I could find, but I'm looking for a little more detail and help if possible.

 

Here is my situation. I'm traveling from the east coast to San Diego for about 4 or 5 days at the end of June. Just looking to play golf and have a little fun. I know I want to play Torrey South (overrated or not). I know options for tee times are limited. I will be playing with 1 other person, who will be on a limited schedule so I want to get a guaranteed time. My plan as of right now is to either call or go online and book it soon as times for that particular day become available. Does anybody have any experience/luck with this process? I know it won't be cheap, as if such thing existed for non-residents, but I've never really spent any time in California or out west so I want the experience. I am thinking about trying to book a spot as soon as the "Twilight" rates kick in, if that's possible.

 

I have read other posts about other courses in the area, but if anybody wishes to provide any other experiences/advice I'd love to hear it. Even things to do off the course (beaches, entertainment, food, etc.). Thanks in advance.

I have played both the North and South (coming from Texas) and my recommendation is to count 90 days out from the date you wish to play and then call them to schedule the time as you will have to put down a deposit. They will then email you the reservation.

Also, I know it depends on a lot, but how are course conditions in June-July?

its usually pretty good conditions around then, would definitely go to a twilight rate and save yourself some $$$

Reservation process is simple. Give them a call. They will charge a $45 booking fee.

My suggestion for hotel would be the Hilton at Torrey Pines. It's Literally right off the 18th fairway. 5 Min walk to the clubhouse and putting green.
