Winn Grips

Looking to change...

What's the best grip in that brand overall? I looking to find something softer for my irons. I have tried Arrow's and they are nice.

If not Winn then some other brand that is soft on the hands.

I have Tour Velvets on them now... I like them allot but they are brutal on my hands and glove.

Depends on what you like to play. I used to love the Lamkin Crosslines, but now I use Golf Pride Dual Durometers on my short irons, and for hybrids and woods use the GP New Decade, they just have a superb combination of comfort and durability. The Dual Durometers have a much softer feel that the Decades, but both offer unparalleled traction. I tried Winn a few times, and they just wear out incredibly easy (let there be noted that I do NOT wear a glove, and never suffered a blister in 5 years now...) despite my light grip.

 

I have heard EXCELLENT opinions about the new Lamkin Dual Density Torsion Control, and they also look GREAT!. I would look into those too.

 

I favor softer grips because I suffer from pain in my joints because of broken fingers a few years back. The most comfortable grips I've used are the GP Dual Durometers, by far. But I favor firmer grips on my woods because I love a firmer feel and extra bit of feedback they provide, as the graphite shafts help absorb the unwanted vibration too. Hope this helps!

If you do go with Winn, make sure that you follow their directions for cleaning the grips, available on their website... don't ask me how I had to find this out

The absolute softest and easiest on the hands grip I've ever played are the Winn Classic RF's, but they wear out so quickly you'll want to start installing your own grips if you don't already just to save some coin.

I recently put the G8 grip that bootcamp1 mentioned on my driver and it is also very soft but I can't comment on durability yet either. If you like the shape of tour velvets (tapered with the bottom portion quite thin), then the G8's will be to your preference. If you want a larger diameter feel in the low hand (my preference) then either the Classic or Excel series would be ideal. This year I put GP Player's Sofftie grips on my irons and wedges and I love them, a bit more firm than Winn Classics or Excels but still soft enough to give some relief, they also have minimal or no taper so the bottom grip diameter is larger for your low hand.
