Dave Curry, designer and CEO of Big Oak Putters announced today the addition of Tom Jenkins to his team as an endorser and player of the Big Oak Putters on the Champions Tour. Tom Jenkins has been rolling the Big Oak design since the Champions Tour SAS Championship where he finished second. Tom has enjoyed the true roll and feel of the High Center of Gravity patented technology so much that he has agreed to endorse this high-end putter line for the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

 

Dave Curry’s designs incorporate his patented higher center of gravity designs. Dubbed the “cue ball effect” by Curry, overspin is generated at impact by concentrating the center of gravity or mass above the equator of the ball at impact much like a cue stick impacting the cue ball in billiards. Trained under one of the few master designers in the game today, Dave is the only putter maker out there who actually worked DIRECTLY for a master designer though many claim they did.

 

In addition Dave cut steel for years in a machine shop and finished college in art and design. Playing tournament golf throughout his 20s and 30s gives Dave a knowledge of where the short game science is important. His background in machine shop, art and design, golf tournament play, and working directly for one of the most widely known master designers in the game gives him a wide spectrum of experience to draw from in making you a good if not great putter.

My son and I both rolled Havana mallet sfor a year - great mallet. My son rolled it better than I did. The hand milled work is super. Great attention to detail.

 

The only adjustment I would make is to ask Dave to make the putter a little softer in the tip of the shaft (tip it less) to give the putter a softer, sweeter feel.

The putters aren't very aesthetically pleasing to me. They look clunky and the design lines don't work for me. I just don't think I could use something that doesn't look nice no matter how great it feels.

Just bought a Havana mallet in great condition from a member here. Couldnt be happier with it. This is probably the best feeling mallet i've ever used. The feel is just amazing, very nice and soft. It is face balanced, just what i wanted on a mallet. Head feels heavy, not sure how much it weighs exactly. The finish looks great, gun blue like. Absolutely love the design of this putter head, love love love the cavity on this baby. I'll rate this putter 9/10 overall. Was planning to get a ping redwood piper, not anymore after i got this.
