Rory Mcilroy's ball position and set up with driver

I've been checking out some videos of Rory's driver swings and I noticed it seems as if his ball position is pretty far inside of his left heel. In some videos, he looks like his hands are far in front of the clubhead at set up and that's before he does his slight forward press initiator.

 

Is this how he always does it? He's known to be a very high ball hitter, yet this sure looks like a low flight swing:

(That's almost like an iron set up for me!)

 

Here's another one, but I think this one is more the camera angle than his set up.

 

However, it's also very windy there so perhaps he was aiming low.

 

In this video, it looks like your standard in line with the heel position:

and it's less windy in that one.

 

 

Can someone shed some light on this? I'm very interested as I'm always looking to improve my fundamentals like my set up.

Camera angle, just look at the tee markers in the first and second video and you can see that the camera is at an angle relative to the line of the markers. Very standard setup.

Didn't watch your vids, but I've seen him hit plenty of drives in person and on TV and he definitely likes to have the ball a little further back than most of the guys.

im a young golf pro and my hobby is to analyse almost every swing from every period of time very closely.
my first impression of rorys swing was exactly what you are highligting.
i though that his hands are way ahead at setup for every shot from drive to short iron and he even hits his flop shots with a forward leaning shaft at adress. i thought that was pretty interesting and if you look at footage of rory form a young age you clearly can see he used to this even more extreme when he was younger. to me it jsut looks as if its kind of a impact position setup, the only difference is the weight distribution.
of course i tried rorys setup for myself and stuck with it ever since. to me it simplifies the swing a lot because you can realy feel impact at adress. all you have to do is turn back and through from this position and you will produce a slight draw and dont have to fear losing the ball to the right because of the very solid hand position. i agree with you that you get the impression to hit the ball low with that kind of setup but if you dont hit down agressivly just turn your shoulders and sweep that setup shallow through impact you should create a pretty high ball flight like rory does. good luck.....sorry for my english not my native language hope you can understand it

This^. His ball is teed up a little behind the tee markers. The camera is actually in front of the tee markers.
