My Driver Swing

My club: TaylorMade Suferfast 9.5, X-Stiff, 47.5 inch shaft, swing speed 135+ (Swing is with a Torn left rotator cuff and have surgery in 2 days) Please comment on my swing...

first, you stand waaayyy tooo far away from the ball. Your off balanced after impact. Stance too wide.

Yea really closed and way too far away from the ball. It might be because of your injury. Looks like you can hit tho!

Good luck on the surgery, have had both arms done and am being told they need redone. Waiting for the season to slow down.

I'll have to agree you are too far away from the ball. If you tighten it up a bit you'll get a better lag coming back down on the ball verses reaching out as much.

I will say this, your swing maybe a bit different post op. I know I lost my range on the backswing.

I too, have had rotator cuff surgery. Believe me you'll come back stronger and better once its done. Good luck,. However, you'll be hard pressed to swing that hard again.

Well, the surgery is done and everything went well, I ended up having a torn rotator cuff, SLAP. The doc told me no golf for a min of 3 months, which kinda sucks but it will better in the end. I made the mistake of attempting to play to soon on my first shoulder (right) surgery which had the same problem but way worse...SLAP torn all the way off, so its pinned in place now, rotator torn all of the way off the bone and reattached some how. All of this from playing baseball!!! As for the swing not being able to bring in back we shall see!!!

I want to say thanks for the advice on my swing, I knew I was a little far from the ball and stood funny. It works for some crazy reason...

if you chose to try and correct by standing closer to the ball, adding a slight drop in your wrists might help you become more comfortable

This swing has many flaws if you intend to play consistent golf. Some things I noticed, as others have:

>You sand too far away from the ball
>Your head position looks forced
>You awkwardly turn away from the ball at address
>Your legs are locked tight
>You take a very long time to commit to the shot - too long over the ball is not a good thing.
>You lunge at the ball (jump forward) at impact which is never a good thing.

One thing us golfers get told very often is stop trying to hit is so hard... When I come out of my shoes and try to hit a ball - granted it was solid, it goes around 305-310 yards (on average)... Now if I just hit one with my normal swing, without any extra, it goes around 290 to 300 yards (on average). On most golf courses, that extra few yards that you'll rarely get because you miss hit it too much by swinging too hard, won't do you much good anyway... it's a wedge instead of a 9 iron on you approach etc... Most likely the real difference will be playing from the fairway vs. the weeds.

Anyway....take it down a notch, focus on tempo, stand closer to the ball, and don't tighten up so much over it... be loose, calm, and fluid...let the club do the work.
