Shortening a Scotty... lower resale?

I just ebay'd my first SC putter, need to find out if the fuss is justifed. I got a 35" model though, so I think it will be way too long. I would like to cut it down, of course if I do the shaft band will be incorrect, will this affect the resale value too much?

It's not a collector (Studio Style Newport 2), but don't want to do anything hasty.

If you're going to use a putter, it's not going to be a collector's item.

It's much more important that the head remain rust free, clean of nicks, dents, and gouges.

Cut away, worst case scenario the buyer can just throw in an extension when needed. . .

i think cutting a putter down will down the resale cause you have to cut the shaft. if you lengthen the shaft, its ok b/c you can take the plug out. hope this helps.

I feel like the re-sale value will be affected because the overall weight of the putter will in fact decrease when the shaft is cut down. However, if you plan on keeping it, I would get it cut down to a length you are comfortable with and weighted with lead powder and/or lead tape.

If you're worried about it, do what I do when I want to shorten or lengthen a Cameron. I pull the shaft and put in another one. If I decide to sell...which hardly ever happens :friends: I just put the original shaft back in.

Genius, keeps the shaft band in tact and putter shafts are $9 tops. Throw a grip in and you've done it for $20. :friends:

Interesting idea. Do putters take a special shaft, or can you use a regular shaft... If so how would it be tipped?

Using a putter shaft would be best. There are a number of places you can get them and a number of different types to use. Here's a place you can START WITH.
