uPro 4.0 Update

How long has it been out?

Was adding a course tonight, haven't sync'd the uPro for awhile and lo and behold it prompted me to update. Haven't seen any posts about it (did a quick search) so I thought I'd share. The update process was pretty straight forward by following the steps. There's still not a scoring feature but the new menu is kind of nice. I'll be taking it out on Sat. to see what else is new but here are the bullet points from uPro:

Mark Function is now accessable from ProMode.
New Hole Intro Graphic appears on the screen for a shorter time.
Revised Hazard View eliminates unneeded yardages from hazards behind you on the hole.
Software Setting Optimization to improve the backlight performance.
USB Connection Options allow you to still use your uPro while it is charging.
Updated Training Videos now accessable from the Main Menu

Ok, I stand corrected. Just check the site again the the scoring feature is now available. It costs either 25 credits or $20. Hmm... does anyone want to upgrade first and let me know if it's worth it?

I am considering it!!! Oh what the hell, I have 81 credits, I am going to do it. I will not be able to use it until Saturday or Sunday this week.

I just took a look at the upro site and the "upgrade to scoring plus" page. Unfortunately there's not a lot of detail, but from the text and pics it looks like you can only view 5 holes at a time, the graphics look pretty bland, and there's no mention of whether the scorecard/stats show up in the "My upro" section for viewing (or if it can e-mail them to you like the iphone/ipod touch apps). I just recently downloaded the free GolfShot app to my ipod touch(as I was tired of waiting for upro to release the stats module), and it has a great user interface and graphics; gives you stats for FW hit, GIR, putts, etc.; shows the scorecard (9 holes per screen) when you rotate the device to landscape view; and e-mails the scorecard to you(and you can forward it to your playing partners or post to twitter/FB if you desire). I hate carrying/using 2 separate devices, but if the upro scoring plus is as bare bones as it looks, I think I may end up saving my credits/$20 and using the Golfshot for scoring and the upro for the gps function.

I will be very interested to hear what those of you who download and use it think after you use it--please post your reviews for the rest of us.

I think it would be great for upro to offer a free trial demo (for 10-14 days or so) so we could "try it before we buy it".

There's also a separate software update (4.0) that's free that adds some additional features/options--it's in the "upro home" section.

Edit: Just emailed Callaway/upro support requesting they consider a 10-14 day demo option.

I updated mine and also purchased the stats package for $20. I won't be playing again until Wednesday to try it all out.

I like the idea of the distance for each club (min, max and average). I keep track of more stats when I play than just the FW hit, GIR and putts upro offers but I figured for $20.....

I like the new green view in basic mode that lets you lets you approximate pin position on the green. Also there is an nice lay-up feature in pro mode that gives you automatic lay-up for 100 yds and for 150 yds.

Well, I'm sorry to say I see one big hole already. It keeps track of statistics and your last 50 rounds, but I don't see any way to export the info to your computer. That sucks.

The marking distance in Pro Mode is a nice feature. Still no Voice Recognition though? The stats feature is too little to late. I've moved on to Golfshots. I only use the uPro for tournaments now.

I downloaded the 4.0 update and used some of my credits to enable the stats package. So far it looks pretty cool. The shot tracking seems like it could get manually intensive, but I'm sure it will be quicker once I get used to using it. It's been frustrating waiting for this update but I give Callaway credit for not abandoning it and getting it out.

It shows how to do this in the new video's. you have to hold the MEAS button in for three seconds and you will see the yardage in red in the top right hand corner.

It looks like you might sync your stats on the website. There is now a "scoring plus" side tab on the website that says "disabled" for me. I am wondering what this tab does once you enable stats?

It just says "Scoring Plus Enabled". There's no mention of stats syncing to a computer or the website. It would be cool if they could be saved to the website so you wouldn't have to worry about losing them in case of a hardware failure. Either way, it's not a big deal for me.

On another note, I love that they have added the virtual green in the free update. This is a great feature when you play a course once or twice and do not want to download the promode version. I can still use the MEAS to get a distance to the pin location instead of just front center and back. There are a lot of other nice features they have added as well. Overall I would say the update is a must!

It appears that the shot tracking portion is not working. There is another thread about it.

Basically, it comes up with an error saying there are no clubs to choose from.

I have a e-mail in to upro support, i'll let you all know what they say about it.

Not working. Upro connected fine. Started download and got a sync error. Now the Upro says connected to the host. The UPro wesite says UPro not connected.

I also bought a course I am playing tomorrow and teh thing will not connect to let me put it on UPro. anyone help? Their help center is down till Monday due to reg off hours.

Did you run the Upro finder utility? You can run it from the website. The Upro will say "connected to host" when it's plugged into the computer via USB, even if it's not connected to the server.

Best options would be to disconnect, reboot PC, and power off and on the upro and try again. May even want to remove/reinstall the battery to make sure nothing held in cache/memory re the hosed sync attempt.

When you run the "find UPro" program is comes back with "Cannot Find Sync Program on UPro".

I shutdown pc and UPro. Took battery out etc....... I appears the sync program on the upro itself was lost during the upgrade. I am set to play 3X this weekend including Monday. 2 course was needed to add and one I just purchases and I will not have them. I am on eastern time and they will not be answering calls until after my tee time.

OK yeah I don't use Find Upro it never works for me on 64bit PC. I just plug in the upro, open windows explorer and go to the drive letter assigned to the upro, and run the upro.exe program. I think it is in the sync folder.

If that does not work you can try restore the Upro to "Factory Defaults" and try again, by:

"[color=#2A2A2A][size=2]You can turn restore the factory settings by going to the Device Settings screen within the settings menu. Under the Device Settings, choose Factory Defaults."[/size][/color]

If that doesn't work I am out of ideas, sorry.

Thank you for your help. I'm SOL until I talk to them. The actual files are gone on the UPro so it will not connect. The Mac Sync files are still there but not the pc sync.

I just bought the Upro yesterday (Best Buy had it for $299 and then I can send in the $100 rebate - but the sale runs out today). I do believe that the device has to be locked into a satellite for shot tracking protion to work. I also tried it inside my house and I also got the error message but when I went outside and let the unit lock in then the shot tracker feature became enabled.

Same thing (missing the Sync application) happened when I was doing the upgrade, but I think my error was trying to do the upgrade thru my Windows 7 hard drive (yes, I forgot that's a NO-NO!).
Anyways, had to call technical support (did it early this Sat. morning.) Lots of files were given to me (via e-mail/download links) to transfer back into the uPro and it's seems to have done the trick, as, so far so good.

I had alot of the same problems you guys did. I contacted upro support and after going through some fixes they decided to send me a new unit with all the upgrades as well as my current course files.Very happy with customer service.
