Job Description: Full-time, year-round golf professional needed with a passion for custom fitting golf equipment, retail sales and golf instruction. A high energy, self-starting golf professional who has strong customer service and interpersonal skills is needed at RedTail Golf Center in Portland, Oregon. Named one of the top 5 new facilities in 2004 and a Top 100 facility in 2005 and 2006 by the GRAA, RedTail Golf Center is a public golf facility with a Championship 18-hole golf course, 80 stall state-of-the-art practice facility, full-service retail/custom fitting pro shop and the RYG Golf Academy Instructional program. The position of golf professional at RedTail is very well compensated and requires a person with strong motivation and desire to achieve a high degree of professional and financial success. RedTail is also part of a larger organization with aggressive expansion plans and the position offers significant opportunities to grow within the company. RedTail is located on the West Side of Portland, Oregon in the beautiful Northwest with skiing, biking, boating, hiking and, of course, incredible golf, all within 1 hour. It is a wonderful place to live and work! Responsibilities Retail sales with an emphasis on custom fitting golf equipment in our state-of-the-art fitting and demo center this will be your primary responsibilityGolf Instruction (private lessons, golf schools, group clinics and junior instructional programs) Golf Course Operations Other duties as may be assigned by Head Professional or other management personnel. This position has a primary focus on custom fitting and retail sales. Golf instruction will be a component of your responsibilities as well, but teaching golf will be secondary to custom fitting and retail sales. All golf professionals are responsible for completing orientation and continuing education. Responsibilities also include accomplishing assigned tasks, working in an efficient team-oriented manner and managing multiple tasks in an extremely fast paced environment.

 

Job Requirements: Must have strong desire to achieve professional and financial success. Must have custom fitting experience.Must have Golf Instructional experience. Proven self-starter with the ability to manage several tasks at once. Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment.Strong interpersonal, follow-up and teamwork skills. Commitment to highest quality of customer service. Strong attention to detail and ability to get things done. No specific golf experience is necessary other than the ability and knowledge to custom fit golf equipment and teach the game of golf in a private and group setting. PGA affiliation and/or membership is not a prerequisite. Although, all golf professionals must enroll in PGA Level 1 within first 12 months of employment.

 

Benefits: Compensation is broken into three categories I. Base Salary - $30,000 Base salary is compensation for working in the golf pro-shop performing custom fitting, retail sales and other customer service/operational duties. II. Lesson Commission - $15,000 and up. Commissions are based upon the number of instructional hours you perform. Golf Professionals at RedTail range from 500 - 2,000 instructional hours per year. Commissions are paid for private lessons, golf schools, clinics, junior programs and other instructional programs. It is estimated that this position would perform 500 hours per year of golf instruction. III. Bonus - performance based The third component of your compensation is bonus based upon your performance relative to both retail sales and teaching as well as overall facility performance. Bonuses are paid monthly, quarterly and/or annually. IV. Benefits Medical, dental and vision coverage is offered on a 50-50 split for the individual with company. Educational assistance is also offered as to be determined by management.
