Daiwa Monodyne tour irons?

Anybody know anything about daiwa monodyne irons? Any specs, history, or other information? I just bought a set off of ebay. I wanted some good older blades to knock around. I googled as much as I could and felt ok about purchasing them but now I am curious if there is anymore info on these sticks.

Haven't heard anything about them since the early to mid 80's. They were a high end club and at the time were as good as anything out there. It was every bit as good as the Hogan Apex, Wilson FG17's and looked similar if I remember correctly. Likely the last high end iron Diawa sold in NA and they disappeared from the radar shortly after that. Diawa was a big name in the East but are more into fishing gear than golf. Sadly, like most irons from that era, they were great in their time but IMO they don't compare to the Tour irons of today. Nice clubs and I hope you like them but I doubt if you will like playing them.

I still have my Bridgestone gc mids as my main gamers. I bought these to try some blades to see how I would like them. I don't have the dough to throw down on newer stuff that is why I checked out the eighties era blades. My other option was to use my dads 1960's Arnold palmers which I grew up playing but I think he would rather me not play them so he can keep them in good shape. Thanks for the information.

I played these for the first time yesterday at a muni 9 hole course due to lack of time(I didn't even warm up). They are a lot of fun I hit 12 out of my 16 iron shots well but when I miss hit my shots were horrible. I kept miss hitting my pw but I was hitting the 2 iron about 200 yards that thing is sweet. They are about one club shorter then my regular set but i will put them in the bag througout the year because they are fun to play with. If anybody has the lofts or any information on these I would apprecitate it. They are call Daiwa Monodyne Tour Blades.

These irons just caught my eye.  Good looking woods to match as well. No way they play much better or worse than the Wilson's or similar era tour blades. But they're nearly as sexy as the Palmer Standard 85's (in my main bag now). I'll have to round up a set one day, but am distracted by wooden shafts and low-comp balls now. Commenting 12.5 years later in case others with info or experience haven't seen this thread.
