Just finished the toughest course & conditions have ever played!!!

Paiute Wolf

Wow!!! Pete Dye is one sick and twisted individual. I just got back from the CGA National 2 Man scramble Finals in Vegas, and we played the Paiute Wolf course. It was contested from the tips, a tad over 7600 yards, 76.5 / 149 rating, but throw in 30-40mph wind, with 60mph gusts and it was crazy long. 4 par fours in the 495-500 yard range, all in the teeth of the wind. No one on the planet could of gotten on in regulation. Most were driver, 3 wood, and still 100+ in. Out of 80 teams, many former college standout players, the winning score was 69, and only 2 teams broke par.

You want a humbling experience, play those tips in the wind. Course was in amazing condition, fairways, rough, greens. Highly recommend giving it a try when in Vegas.

I've played it from the tips and but it was just cold, not windy. Pretty easy to lose your drives in the desert. How was the island par 3 (15th?) playing?

I agree man. I was on West Florida's team. Toughest conditions I have ever played in. That 69 is very respectable. Which team were you with? It was a great weekend with great things to remember and challenging golf. I have never played in wind conditions like that before so I had my first experience of putts being pushed in another direction because of the wind.

me and my partner shot 78, and we played pretty good that day. Just couldn't make any putts.

I was on the CSUSB Alumni team. We shot 71, and won our division, 2nd over all. It was my 7th year making it to the National Finals, and this definately was the hardest test so far. My only real complaint was the Sonoma State team never reported their scores, and were the last score posted, and wins it all. I am not saying they cheated, just that "Everyone" should report their scores as to have an accurate leaderboard. If I knew we were down by 2 instead of up by one with 3 to go, we play those holes completely different. At any rate it is always a great time. Will be interesting if they stay at Pauite next year. What ever course it will be at will be set up hard, that is for sure.

The 15th was playing around 185 if I remember, and a helping right to left wind. Partner stuck it about 10 feet, but we missed the birdie.
