New Course at Walt Disney World

I was just browsing through Google Satellite imagery and saw that 36 holes are being completed just to the East (I think) of the Fort Wilderness Lodge property. Anybody have any further details of this project???

I was just at Disney a month ago and there was no mention about new courses there. I did a Google search and nothing there either.

I'd certainly be curious if there are plans for new courses there.

I did some deeper digging since I was not sleeping last night. As it turns out Disney is jumping into the luxury real estate market. They are gonna try multi millon dollar neighborhoods over outside the Fort WIlderness lodge area. One of the 18s looks new, and I have the other 18 is a remodel but I don't remember a golf course is this one's location. It should ne interesting to see how this all pans out.

If you look around east of the Fort Wilderness area you can see the remodeled 18 and the routing for the new 18.

The real estate community is called Golden Oak Estates. There will be a large group of custom houses designed by local builders in the central florida area. In the center of this grouping will be a Four Seasons hotel. This hotel is going to be buying the current Osprey Ridge golf course so it will no longer be Disney affiliated. There are plans in the future for the Four Seasons to build another golf course but that is still up in the air. The Four Seasons won't be completed until late 2012/early 2013 so a new golf course is quite a ways away.

The Waldorf already purchased Eagle Pines property and built a luxury hotel. Disney now sold Osprey Ridge too? I was disappointed when that happened as I thought Eagle Pines was a very good track. This would be even more disappointing as Osprey is better (their 18th hole is a good of a finishing hole anywhere).

They haven't sold it yet.....but since the Four Seasons will pretty much be on the golf course with a private paved trail directly to the pro shop, there is no doubting that they will. The old Eagle pines site is actually where all this work is occuring. Disney is slowly losing a lot of courses i.e. Eagle Pines, Celebration, and soon Osprey Ridge. The other 3, Magnolia, Palm, and Lake Buena Vista won't be going anywhere as there are located directly on Disney Resort properties.

The Waldorf Astoria Hotel and goLf course that opened in 2009 are not on the Eagle Pines property. It is on the other side of WDW. Eagle Pines has been plowed over forhigh end development and perhaps four seasons resort, which may or may not have a golf course. Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge were next to each other and shared the same club house near Ft Wilderness. Osprey is still there. Eagle is gone. You can go onto Google Earth and use the time feature to go back through the years and see what it looked like when both courses were there and now with only Osprey Ridge.
