Wedge Grinds

Which grind does what?

I printed out the following picture the other day...can not remember which forum it came from.

Can anyone tell me what this grind would do?

And, is there a cheat sheet out there that explains all the different wedge grinds and shows them (like a V grind, M grind, T grind, etc etc)

Check out the sixth page of this pdf file. It has some limited information on grinds, but I would love to have someone with some knowledge lay down the law and answer this post. I was going to put one up on the exact same subject, so nice move.

Well that is a M grind as Sakman is the owner and it probably has a handstamped M on the back of the club if it is tour signifying it. This could be a T or trailing edge grind but with the heel relief as well this means that they probably did the same thing on the toe which makes it an m-grind. If they added bounce to this grind it would become a v grind.

 

This makes the club more versatile from a variety of lies and is great for firm conditions. In wet conditions or for someone that takes DVD case sized divots you would want to stay away from this grind :man_in_love:

 

If you want the versatility of this grind without the DVD case sized beaver pelts then you should go with a V grind as that will make them half DVD cases and not quite as deep.

 

I have spent the last week and about $400 buying different wedges to learn the grinds so I am no expert but I am fairly certain i am right ;)

oh and cheat sheet is in the works I just need permission to use the pictures of everyone's wedges for a cheat sheet from the vokeys gone wild thread. I have summarized all the grinds except for the scratch golf grinds which i am in the process of doing.

 

I am attaching a fun one. This is a p-grind with heel relief. The outlines are to show where the grinds are and this is before i gave it a final polish and with the flash it isn't the most flattering of pictures

I did the same thing to my Vokey Special Grind "P" wedge. It works great, gives you a little less bounce for those higer shots.
