South Africa only has 1 less in the top 20 than USA

Wow, South Africa has 5 of the top 20 in the World Rankings, whereas America only has 6.

 

And if Swartzel had to win in Dubai (where he is leading) then SA would also have 6.

 

Admittedly SA only has 1 in the top 10 and USA has 4.

 

But I still can't recall a time when the States were less dominant on the world rankings. Can u?

USA is slipping right now. We should have 8 or so in the top 20. tiger , phil, furyk, stricker, d. johnson, Kuchar should all be locks. AK, Mahan, z. johnson, fowler all have the game and a couple of them are better than some of the top 20 now.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. South Africa has a long history of having world class players - the current ranking only confirm that's still the case. Personally, I'd like to see a healthy mix of all nations in the world rankings, as it proves the game is more globalized now than it's ever been. Interesting that some (if not most) of each countries highest ranking players are quite well seasoned professionals. Looking forward to a great season ahead - some golf to be played by all while the rankings have never been more open.

+1 I totally agree!

I think its alot more exciting and good for the sport in general if there are players from several nations playing at a high level rather than just a few.
