GolfWeek Am Tour (Metro NY)

Hey guys,

The Golf Week Amateur tour in Metro NY is just starting up. It's cheaper than the Golf Channel Am Tour and the payout is in Visa debit cards rather than GG gift cards.

Schedule posted. Looks solid. I'm gonna be playing in 3 Philly events as well though.

Really looking forward to Bethpage Red, Ballyowen, Royce Brook and Galloway.

I'm interested, but i live in upstate NY. Its a long way to drive (3-4 hrs), we'll see how it goes. Plus with gas prices *sigh*. We'll see how it goes.

I've never played at any of the courses listed so it would be fun to play in a few events.

Real great turnout at Metedeconk. 70+ players. Course was immaculate. I could spend all day at that practice area alone. Wowza. Played absolutely awful but I guess that's to be expected in my first tourney ever.

how was the pace of play? i play on tgc am tour now and pace is aweful. looking to move.

Fantastic. We finished in just over 4 hours 15 minutes and had rangers riding around making sure everyone was keeping a decent pace the entire round. They have a no triple bogey putt rule (which I can go either way about...saved some people from really high scores, I think no quads would be better) which speeds up the round quite a bit as well.

Not to mention the prices on the GWAT are much lower than the GCAT and I don't think its much of a contest.

I played at Metedeconk....... IT WAS AN AMAZING GOLF course (tough- especially without my having a practice round). I played horribly (nerves etc.), but the course was incredible and everyone was extremely nice!

I've encountered some integrity issues relating to flight assignments, and rules violations, relating to thoses assignments, in the pre and post play phases of some members's trek through this tournament, with emails and telephone calls falling upon deaf ears from all the way at the top and down to the bottom. I will elaborate soon after I concact the tournament sponsor.
