draw vs fade

carry distance which has more ???

okay here we are at work and we are having an argument on what travels further....
our local titleist rep says overall a fade will go further which we quickly corrected him but now amongst
ourselves we are arguing on draw vs fade. A drwa will release more but total time in the air which will go further excluding roll???
we will say each person swings 100 mph one hit a draw one a fade whose carries farther???????[/size]

I think there are other factors to consider here, ball spin being a big one!

 

With identical swings I would think a fade would have more CARRY than a draw. Carry of course being the key word. As far as total distance goes I think a draw would get the vote on that.

since the question about spin came up say both players have 12 lauch and 2500 rpm so than who would have total CARRY Distance? the drawer or the fader???

Well the draw and fade will change the launch angle and spin given same equipment. A draw will have a lower launch angle and lower backspin due to the closed club face. The fade should have higher launch angle because the face is slightly open and higher backspin due to the increased loft.

 

I'm not positive off hand what will carry more but I think it would depend on your launch and spin rates to begin with so it possibly could be different for different people depending on how it compares to your ideal launch.

True, but on average it will be into the wind or a cross wind more often than a direct tail wind. But yes, I like tail winds too. :crazy:

i'm an FAA licensed pilot and all of this talk of tail wind, cross wind, etc. reminds me of flight school..LOL

 

i would vote the draw for more distance.

assuming that the test is identical - ball swing speed wind lie hieght of tee strength etc- fade carries farther and spins more- draw carries less- rolls way more = draw gets more yards
