How high do you tee the ball?

 

I just got a 425 (retail). My auld driver was a 580XD 10.5* and I always had about half the ball above the top of the crown.

 

Tonight I tried a wee experiment and teed the ball lower, only about a 1/4 of the ball showing above the crown and the ball seemed to go higher and farther. I thought maybe it was just that one swing. But I tried another 5 times with the same result.

 

I'd like to hear from other 425 owners to see if this is common.

 

I saw Sergio at Loch Lomond last month tee the ball pretty low with his 425.

I think it all depends on were you make contact on the face, so tee height shouldn't matter to much. Personally I tee the ball a full ball above the face of my driver but I make a effort to hit the ball on the upswing.

 

So as you said in your post you were hitting better with the ball teed lower so keep it that way. It all comes down to what your more comfortable with.

I also found that I've had to tee the ball lower with the 425 TP than with my old 510TP.

I'm at about 2.5". I like to tee it high.

The 580s and 510s had a sweetspot higher and a little out from dead center. The 425s sweetspot was engineered dead center, so I tee it lower for it.
