Hello GolfWRX

Recommended Posts

I've pulled an all nighter and spent the past seven hours reading the forum, and it's been thoroughly enjoyable. However, I'd like to offer full disclosure before I start my posting career. I am a recent commerce graduate and not an avid golfer. However I did grow up whacking a golf ball around gardens (with a few broken windows.) I also spent two summers during college working on a golf course, maintaining the course under the direction of the greenkeeper. And I played the odd few rounds on that course. Recently, I've come to realise that my academic interests coincide with golf. My interests lie in communities, neo-tribes and the culture surrounding passionate groups. People's hobbies are the most obvious example of such groups, and having some experience with the golf industry, I have found it a fascinating area to look into. And that's what directs my interest and posts here.

In the past few weeks I've been to the driving range, and I plan to get some lessons in the near future. I can still vividly remember the best shot I've hit. A 420yd par 4, slight dogleg, uphill for the first two hundred yards, and downhill for the next two hundred, so the tee box and green are on roughly the same level with a big hill in the middle, and with the hill lower in the apex of the dogleg. I struck the ball sweetly with the 3 wood (I was doing rubbish with the driver.) It went right through the apex on the lower part of the hill and out of sight. When I walked the fairway, I saw the ball had rolled down the hill to within 70yds of the green. If I could hit shots like that even a third of the time I play, I'd be absolutely stoked.

So with that introduction to myself, a noob question:

I'm interested in getting involved in the golf industry, and I'd like to talk a bit about the industry in general. Which is the best forum to post about that? I have two posts ready to go, one asking about the possibility of a career, and one about some observations I have about the current problems people seem to be reporting with play and clubs.

I'm looking forward to some good discussions. You all seem like a passionate and (generally) mature lot. :)

Greetings and welcome.....I think your comments about the site are accurate and interesting.
As far as where to post your threads, I would suggest "General Golf Talk". You can also check out the "help" tab in the upper right hand corner and research some of the do's and don'ts of posting on the site.

Again, welcome.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
