Ogio Decibel

I have had the 2011 Ogio Decibel for a few weeks and thought I'd post a quick review.

 

I bought this bag after looking at few others; the SM 3.5, Ping 4Under and a Srixon which I think is the old Vaporlight. I like to walk and don't want to carry more than the essentials, wanted a light weight functional bag.

 

I couldn't get the Srixon comfortable on my shoulders, just did not seem to fit me right so that was out. I liked the Ping but had read about others having issues getting clubs in and out. Loaded up the bag and did find that the club sharfts did get tangled and I could see that getting frustrating. One of the reasons I was shopping was due to some of the dividers in my old bag having ripped and the shafts getting tangled. Ping was out. Down to the SM and the Decibel, either seemed to be a good choice but I liked the Decibel straps more. I couldn't get past thinking the lightly padded SM wouldn't be comfortable for 4+ hours. Bonus the Decibel was $50 cheaper.

 

Enough pockets to carry what I need; half a dozen balls, a few gloves, mini first aid kit, a few granola bars and a rain jacket. I could easily get the full rain suit in but have not had the need yet. I quickly became a fan of the hydration pocket(easy to reach when walking) and the velco for my glove. My old bag was over 10 years old and while it served me well it did not have these little features.

 

I think the four wood top works great, keeps the clubs organized and easy to get in/out. I played in a fund raiser yesterday with mandatory carts and found it easy to get to all the pockets on the back of the cart. I was a bit concerned that the bag was not that stable but I have not had any probelms, haven't tried to get it to stand up on a steep side hill and likely won't.

 

Overall very pleased with the bag.
