Depends on what you're looking for.

Compared to the Mizunos, the Clevelands have a thicker topline. I have x12s and the CG4s look pretty similar at address.

The Clevelands have a very soft feel, but it's across the entire face. If you are a big fan of lots of feedback, they may not be your cup of tea.

Forgivenesswise, I'd rate them slightly better than Mizunos, but not as much as Callaways.

The CMM is fairly soft, and is likely to scuff up similar to a forged iron if that is an issue for you.

I think they're very much a 'tweener between the Cally X's and the Mizunos.

I have CG4 for 3 months now, and they are great, not the most forgiving set out there, but not players irons either, forgiving enough and good looking iron. I had Mx-23 (didnt like em), Mp-32 (great set but i dont have the game to play with them, just used em for a year), and Nike Procombo (the first one, great set of irons).

I played the CG4 earlier in the year and they are are a good looking well made iron. They just weren't for me.

I bought a set of CG4s shortly after they came out as a more forgiving alternative to my MP-32s for when I wasn't swinging well. I tried out everything that was out there at that time (must have been about 16 months ago) and I liked the way that CG4 heads set up for me - less offset than most game improvement irons and the sole is not gigantic. They're very easy to hit straight and high. The MP-32 has a sharper leading edge than your MX-23 but the CG-4 is rounder than that.

The bad part about the CG4s are that the stock shafts (Dynamic Gold Actionlite) are very flexy. You really want to try these out to make sure they feel comfortable to you. I can feel the flex difference between the Dynamic Golds in my MP-32 and the CG4 and the flight is really too high. As has been mentioned in other threads, I don't think the satin chrome on CMM clubs is very good. On the topline of the club, there's a matte section which marks up very easily just from motion in the bag. You will also see ball impact wear on the faces much more quickly than you saw on your Mizunos. My Mizunos have 4x the play that the CG4s have, but you'd never guess that to look at them.

When I was looking for this backup set of clubs, I wanted to go with your MX-23s. After monitoring eBay a bit, I found it was hard to get much of a break on new MX sets, but I was able to pick up new CG4s for much less (I believe it was $375 vs $500, although the MXs are much cheaper these days). The CG4 Tour would probably have been a better fit for me (better shaft, smaller head) but they weren't announced yet (announced maybe a month after I got the CG4s). I had also thought about the X-18 Pro (too expensive), Bertha Fusion (really good, but way too expensive), and TM LT (the original LT is a very good club).

I tried carrying the CG4 5-iron with the rest of my MP-32s for a while (I usually carry a 4-hybrid). It's much easier to hit and really goes a long way, but the difference in feel makes me a little less confident in playing a mixed set.

So, my view would be to give the CG4s a good try on the range and see what you think. I'm not sure that this would really be a big step up from your MX-23s.

I traded my Slingshot OSS irons for a set of used cg4's with Black gold shafts in them.

I like them alot. I'm not a low capper, or experienced to know how easy it may be to shape a shot with more of a player's club, but I've been able to hit some fun & cool shots with these cg4's.

Case in point:

Yesterday, pulled my drive into some pine trees. Had a smallish opening in front of me about 8 feet high and 10 feet out. I'm 180 or so from the green, but the opening is aiming 15 yards or so right of the green.

I hit one of my all time favorite recovery shots. A 180 yard, low draw to within 15 feet. 2 putt for par.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
