Black Nickel Finish

Will it wear off over time?

Looking at new wedges with this finish wondering how they wear over time. The driving range at my course uses mats rather than grass and I don't want to kill the finish.

Thanks in advance.

Also, thoughs on the Vokeys in this finish?????

I have black nickel Vokeys and have been using them for 2 years. The finish is a dark chrome, so they don't rust unless you scratch all the way through the plating. The black color DOES wear off with impacts and contact over time, so you'll see the faces and soles fading to a lighter color relative to the hosel and back of the heads. The lighter color they wear to is still much darker than the tour chrome Vokeys, not as dark as the oil finish heads look in the store. I don't really notice it much until I see new black nickel clubs in the store.

I really love these clubs. The do get dents and bangs more than most wedges - I have had Cleveland 588 RTG and CG10 and they definitely are harder than Vokey steel. My sand wedge is pretty beat up looking from rocks in the bunkers, but the others (I have a 50 which I switched out when I switched clubs with weaker lofts and a 60 which has been there the entire time) have held up quite well. I don't like rusty heads, and I like the sharper leading edge on the Vokeys vs. Clevelands.
