Dallas - Cedar Crest

I'll be in Dallas this month and would like to get in a round. Normally when travelling, I first look for courses from the "golden era" of design (Tillinghast, Ross, Raynor, etc.) . I understand Cedar Crest is a Tillinghast design.

So, what's the scoop...is it worth playing, conditions, pace of play, etc. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Another course that looks interesting is The Tribute.

FWIW, I'll be in the Plano/Carrollton/Richardson area

Thanks

Cedar Crest is a great track! The weekends are crowded just like every other course in the world, but if you catch them on a weekday a small group can get around in about 3 hours. The layout is pretty fun, lots of short par 4s and shorter par 5s. The par 3s from the tips average around 190. They had some water issues and the greens suffered a tad but I understand they have gotten them back within the past month.
While you are driving there you swear you are lost because this place is in the GHETTO. However, once you get to the course a lower middle class neighborhood appears. It's worth the trip though.

The Tribute is a great course. For whatever reason some people are not convinced it's good. Probably because they charge $120 a round :D It's one of my favorites though

Agree with this assessment of Cedar Crest. It is an excellent course for the price. Definitely worth the trip, especially if you can get there during a weekday.

As far as The Tribute, I think it is a very good golf course. It's just not good enough to justify the price tag, IMO. Definitely worth playing if you don't mind the $$$, and quite a unique design for this area.
