Ebay

I bought a dozen of 2006 ProV1's on Ebay last week for $37.00. The seller listed the balls as brand new still in the box. When I received them in the mail and opened them up, I could clearly tell by looking at them that they were refurbished. Then when I touched them I could feel the rough surface on them. When looking at the balls the ProV1 stamp wasn't on the seam of the ball, and the stamp also didn't have the arrows on each end. The dimples look very shallow and I am seriously wondering if they are even a Titleist golf ball. They look very similar to the new Wilson line with the shallow dimples. I emailed the seller and told him I wasn't an idiot and he had some nerve trying to pass the balls off as brand new. I told him that I wanted a full refund and then I would send the balls back or I would report to Ebay. He emails me back and insists the balls are brand new. He said if I wished for a refund I would need to send the balls back to him and once he received them, he would give me a refund back on my card.

Now I am very skeptical of this guy because he is trying to pass these off as new. I don't want to send the product back to him before I get a refund because I am afraid he will get his balls and I won't see a refund. I have never had a problem with a Ebay seller before so I don't know what I should do. Should I trust him and return his balls before he refunds my money or should I report it to Ebay? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The seller is golf-gear-usa. Don't buy any of this guys stuff!! Has anyone else had problems with him?

I wouldn't send the balls back until I got a refund first.

What I would do is open an eBay dispute and get them involved. That way, at least they can police the situation and increase your chances of getting your money back.

One of his feedbacks that was mutually withdrawn says:

"DONT BUY GOLF BALLS FROM THIS EBAYER, FAKE PRO V1S"

I would push him and see what he says...

At $37.00 I would consider it lesson learned, leave appropriate feedback and move on.

Well after several emails back and forth, the seller finally stopped playing hardball. I added in that his feedback clearly states that he has sold fake balls in the past and I think that broke him down some. At first he wanted to give me a half refund until he received his balls back then he would add the other half. I had to stress to him that the balls were nothing that I would scam him of since they were barely any quality that I would add to my shag bag. But he finally agreed to give me full refund. Thanks all for your help. Again stay away from this dude.
