Newbie from UK

Hi Folks,

 

Already done a blatant show off of my gear in the WITB post :)

 

I am Ash, 37, play off 15.3 after going up this year from 13.2 due to lack of practice time and a few major swing changes, good end to the year though so looking at getting this back down next season.

 

I play at the Celtic Manor on the Roman Road and Montgomerie courses and this may have attributed to my HC climbing also, as comp tees make these already tough championship courses that bit harder, the Roman Road being Par 70 with SSS 73 :)

 

My favourite players are...

European = Donald, Westwood, Poulter, McIlroy, Jimenez

USA = Kuchar, Whatney, Roco Mediate & Woods (Woods just because I know how good he is and that he is always capable of turning up and blowing the field away. I was on the edge of my seat when he won the other week)

ROTW = Els, Day, Choi

LADIES = USA has to be Creamer and Europe has to be Sandra Gal :)

 

Anyway ask anything you want (within reason) and I am always up for some good forum banter

Hi Ash and welcome !

Out of interest, which course do you prefer out of The Roman Road and The Montgomerie !?

I was over there fairly recently for the second time and probably preferred The Montgomerie although the Twenty Ten course looked pretty spectacular looking down from the third green on The Monty !?

Also, have you played The Twenty Ten course yet !?

Cheers Gachet, your a bit of a legend on here I hear? enjoyed your posts in the Faldo Equipment thread

I prefer the Roman Road, even though it is meant to be the tougher of the two you do have room for error.
I don't care much for the Monty, even though it is a short course you need to be straight or it is high numbers time, I find the bunkering a bit heavy as well, but that is what Monty was aiming for.


Not played the 2010 as don't get a discount even as a member so not had the cash to spare as of yet

I found that The Montgomerie had more interesting and 'pretty' holes but then again I did somehow avoid all those bunkers..................more luck than judgement I might add !!!

Will certainly try and get back over there to play The Twenty Ten once the prices hopefully come down a bit !?!

Yeah if your straight off the tee and avoid the bunkers it is easy to shoot a good score, miss off the tee and hit into the deep greenside bunkers and your sand game better be good

I would love a round on the 2010 but I agree the prices needs to come down a bit, saying that I have heard that if you know staff they can book tee times for £50 so I have some investigation to do over Crimbo...

I must say I never get tired of the realization that this site brings together people from all over the world, often with the best of spirits. An obvious thought, I know, but nevertheless to me one worth celebrating!

Good luck bringing that handicap back down next year.

Hey Pete, took me a while I know, to be honest I just cant stick the USA v's Europe golf chat on TST anymore, every topic over there ends up an argument.
I am all for banter but it just gets boring after a while.

Looking through the forums on here and I have not seen any of that crap, just tons of great posts, info and pictures etc
