Fourteen TC-770 vs Mizuno MP 53

Good afternoon all. I'm currently gaming a sweet set of Fourteen TC-770s with Nippon NS pro 950 is stiff flex. When I hit these flush, they are awesome. When I don't, I get penalized. Mymball striking has gotten worse it seems. I'm also coming off a set of '09 Burners, which was a very forgiving iron. I just wanted a sweet set of JDM clubs for as long as I can remember, plus the Fourteens are Endo forged. I just don't know if I'm getting the most out of it. I have an opportunity to purchase a set of Mizuno MP 53 with GS95 shafts in regular flex. I wanted to stay with forged if at all possible. Are the mizunos, particularly this model, more forgiving than the Fourteens that I have? Thanks

Btw, I usually hit a regular flex shaft, but read that the nippons play soft, which is why I went stiff with those.

I'm assuming you have th 2009 model? Or do you have the 2006 model? Anywho, I think the MP53's have the slight edge on forgiveness just because of the shape of the cavity providing a little more mass with the pocket like design; if my memory serves me correctly, they have more offset as well.

Bring your 6 iron to a location that has a Mizuno fitting cart and hit it side by side with the MP53 head shafted with GS 95. It will atleast give you somewhat of an idea instead of guessing. However, I personally doubt you'll see much difference.

Next time you're at the range, work on centeredness of contact drills to improve your ball striking. Over-time, you'll be more pleased with your game improvements doing that, than getting more forgiving clubs that give you less feedback on contact. Just my 2cents.

good luck and keep us posted on your decision!

With all due respect - those two shafts are very different. NSPro950 Stiff feels harsher to me than the NS Pro950 Regular. And I just got fitted for MP53's (moving from MP62s)...and opted for the GS95 as it was softer feeling (it's got a softer tip) than the NS Pro 950 Regular. Therefore your choices will be opposite ends of the "feel" spectrum imo.

I'd suggest you go and hit the two shafts in the same head....otherwise you're just guessing, and not doing yourself any favors...those 2 shafts will make you either love or hate the exact same head. You can't really analogize the feel if it's being hit in a different head shape.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
