Would like to start finding groups for Spring

Hey all!

This will be my first spring in Madison after attending school at U of Minnesota for the past 3 years. Anyone out there in this area I am looking for groups to play in because it definitely gets old playing as a single. And if you can point me towards some of the courses outside the city munis that would be awesome as well!

Me and a Buddy usually golf around the area once a week or so, Lake Windsor near deforest, The Oaks is always nice for a round, as well as Door Creek (just outside of Cottage Grove), if you looking for a round on a dime Kestrel Ridge in Columbus, about 20 min drive from the East side, can be had for cheap (15 if you walk 18). As far as in town we typically don't golf there often do to expense (I'm getting married and he's buying a house) Vitense off the belt line is a decent heated range to keep your swing in shape during the winter.

Just missed me by about 6 months. There is University Ridge (UW) which is a RTJ jr. design. Great course. Munis are Yahara Hills and Odana. Both can be overpowered by good distance. Some fun risk/reward depending on your length off the tee. University Ridge is by far the better of those three though. They run a tight ship there, and is a decent introduction to Madison golf. Blackhawk is another good one, although I never had the pleasure of playing there. I believe they have a putting lab there that some of the area Tour pros frequent. Also, check out Nevada Bob's for gear. Golf Galaxy is right around the corner - Brad (the manager there) does the best club work around.

I grew up there and love and miss my home town. bridges is in town and is a great place to play. Let me know sometime and I could always make the trip up. I live in Norther IL.

Anyone know of any good fitters/lessons in the area? I'd like to take some lessons then get a fitting in a few months.

There is a guy name Brant Kosbohm. He is a teaching pro in the Madison area. He has a website that you can email in a youtube video of your swing and he emails you back a lesson. You might be able to see him in person or use his site. I've been impressed by the one lesson I took so far, going to do another video and see if it looks better. Check out fix your swing really very easy to use and helpful. I'm guessing the same would be true in person.
