Meet Ele Bardha. Actor, Stuntman and Inventor of the Odyssey Flip Face Putter Concept

 

New for 2012 from Odyssey is the Flip Face putter, which as the name suggests allows the user to alternate between a White Ice insert and a new Metal X insert. At the 2012 PGA Show I met by chance with the inventor of the concept behind flip face technology Ele Bardha, a man who after years of trying to get his idea noticed, finally hit the big time with Callaway/Odyssey with his idea.

 

Ele has his own company www.bardhagolf.com which showcases his putter inventions. Through some tough experiences protecting his previous inventions Ele learned the process of patenting his idea and went full tilt to secure the rights to the flip face technology.

 

Ele told me he invested over $270,000 employing the USA’s best patent attorney and his team, who incidentally works for GM, to protect his idea. The team worked from 2007 on to secure over 45 different incarnations of what is called Golf club with plural alternative impact surfaces.

 

That concept coupled with the very excellent designs of Austie Rollinson, principal designer with Odyssey Callaway Golf have resulted in the new 2012 range of Flip Face putters.

 

And as if that was not enough it turns out Ele is also a successful, wait for it, actor and stuntman! Here’s his profile on the imdb database. Watch out for Bardha in everything from Dracula to Last man Standing! Can the story of Ele Bardha possibly get any better!

How is this even PGA legal?

I don't think it is any different than the NC putters. Didn't they have interchangeable face inserts? As long it is not changed during the round, like driver setup, I think it is legit. Well I feel certain it is since Odyssey is selling them.

Why not 4 faces them. Soft insert, hard insert, metal insert, and milled face then, 2 is a bit of a waste of the real state? Hell, just put a slot arm on it, so when your not making a single putt you can just let it randomly select a face for you.
