Why so many Negative comments lately ????????
Hey Guys,

Just had something on my mind that's been bugging me. It seems that over the last month I have seen more negative comments, bickering and petty insults than I have ever seen before on this site. This really bugs me, and I know the marshalls have to be getting tired of deleteing posts. What's going on here. The members here are some of the best people in the world. The knowlage to be gained should not be sidetracked by people getting off topic just to insult a person or item. Yes, I am all for voicing your opinion, but people don't have to get personall about it. I admit, Ihave been guilty of this myself a time or 2 and I know I was wrong. I hope we can end all of this negative BS going on and continue having one of the greatest sites on the internet. What do all think is causing this?

That's just my 2 cents.

Well, this is my first year on a golf site, but I can tell you the progression on the ski and snowboard sites is that when the season end, people get significantly more cranky. And the crankiness gets worse until the new season begins, and they can get their fix again on a regular basis.

To put it simply, it's just withdrawal that occurs in the off-season.

EDIT: And you're a moron! (I just felt left out and I wanted to get in on the crankiness) :)

That is a good question Chris. I doubt we will never know the answer to the question though. I think the main thing is when we type what we are thinking then sometimes things can be taken way out of context and then when that happens sometimes people get ticked and it might not have been meant to tick them off.

Let's all just try to have fun until the weather warms up again and we can get back out on the course.

I agree with you MC. I just hope people can take a second and think about whatthey post before they post it you know. That would solve everything if people just thought "HEy, would I get upset if someone said this about me, or said this inmy thread?"

:)

Wiser words could not be spoken Chris, everyone should post by those simple rules, this place would be back in line in no time!

Please Let's keep the GolfWRX train on the right track. Keep the environment civil and at the PG-13 level. This is a Work and Family safe site. We don't want to be blocked by people's work filters nor have people afraid to ask questions. Let's all keep this place upbeat and positive with good info and protect the community.

Thanks!

I've had problems with guys here when they don't drop the ego or pride.

I'll ask a question, they'll spin the answer, post a misleading answer, avoid the question - do anything not to admit you have a valid point.

It's disingenuous.

I don't like those types - the arrogant, the boastful, the misleading, the avoiders.

So - I go after them like a bulldog on a postman.

Andy and Charlie Foxtrot are 100% right on this. It's cyclical and can easily be traced to the seasonal change and lack of golf for most.

There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with someone. But most people fail to phrase it any more eloquently than "you're an idiot!" If more people said "I don't agree and here is why......" there would be less issues. Healthy debate is great and I like to hear from both sides so that I can form an educated opinion. But one side always drops it down to a personal attack when they run out of logical arguments.

I think the problem of negativity stems from the use of digital communication. If you go to any web posting site, you see comments that are negative, deragatory, or outright abusive. Why? First, digital communication is a very poor form of communication. You don't see body language, hear voice inflection, or experience any of the other fine details of face to face communication that help decode someone's message (e.g., they are joking, being sarcastic, serious, or angry). Also inlfuencing negativity is what I call "Internet Bravado". People have a tendency to pen things that they would not say directly to someone face to face, they feel safe to say things because there is large margin of impunity and of course anonymity. Finally, anytime you are in a forum where OPINIONS are exchanged there are bound to be disputes, some people can handle dissenting comments, yet others can't. I think for the most part GolfWRX members can expect negative posts from time to time, but fret not, the moderators here do a good job (sometimes to good) reviewing a problem post and taking corrective action if necessary.
