Best company to ship your clubs.

I will be traveling to California from South Carolina in May. I really do not feel like dealing with bringing my clubs on the airplane with me so I've decided to ship them. What is the best company to use (price, convenience, etc.)

I've never used FedEx to do it but I know that they have a marketing campaign aimed at this. Makes sense since they are a huge sponsor of the PGA (FedEx Cup). I'd at least price them out to see how they compare.

I used FedEx to ship my clubs from Kansas to South Carolina in February and it was nice. Dropped them off at a local FedEx/Kinkos, watched the employee pack them up and they were waiting for me in my hotel room when I arrived. The only complaint I had was the price. I waited too long to ship them to S.C. so I had to use their express service on the way out costing around $60. Coming home, shipping by ground (cheapest) was $78, and express was over $200. Not sure what the discrepancy was, but there clearly was one. I would have to say that it was overall a good experience however.

You think the baggage handlers at any given airport are much better than that 1 isolated incident you have a video to?

I do. I'd much rather put my fully padded and wrapped clubs in my SKB hard shell case than send them FedEx.

And cheaper too. I have flown Southwest on a couple of golf trips and no charge for clubs. I think coming back from Pebble I paid $40 on Alaska.

I would save the money and bring them... Get a hard case... Fly southwest and there ya go!

I took a trip to Scotland a couple years ago and shipped my clubs with a company galled Luggage Forward. I have a CG Burst-Proof, a stiff-arm, and iron covers. I also wrapped the heads/exposed shafts with a few players towels and had them shipped to the pro-shop of the first course we played. I will be perfectly honest, not having my gamers for 2 weeks before I left hurt my game, but the clubs were there waiting for me without a scratch on them. It was a good experience for me.
