Sonartec SS-1.5 "Tour Only" Fairway Wood

Low Profile Head & Low Launch Angle

Makes it easier to get the ball airborne from the fairway while preventing ballooning.

Hot Face Alloy

Super thin face and optimal weight distribution throughout the head offers explosive power at impact, increased ball velocity and maximum distance.

Complementary Shaft Technology

The Penley Tour Light shaft combined with the SS-1.5 head makes this a good choice for the intermediate to advanced golfer.

Versatile

Provides launch from the fairway and distance from

the tee. (The 3 Wood could replace your inconsistent driver!)

Bought one of these for $99 brand new from 3balls. It's the best fairway wood I've ever hit ! Previoulsy I've used Titleists with S300. I find the 15.5 version very smooth and easy to hit. It has a lowish, penetrating trajectory and is very long. The face is totally neutral - I've always had a slight problem hooking the Titleists. I think the head is less tall than some Sonartecs and as such is very easy to hit from the fairway. Personally I tee my 3 wood low anyway so I've had no problems hitting from the tee. The shaft is a Penley Stiff which seems very smooth and powerful. The feel off the face is fantastic - similar to the MD - quite metallic but very solid. All in all a great club at an unbelievable price - I've heard rumours they are launching a driver soon and I'll be first in the queue

I originally had the np99 and this sonartec blows it away. I liked the trajectory of the np, but the odd time it would balloon on me so I would never hit it in the wind. The trajectory of the 1.5 is very flat and boring. I find it is a great club off the tee as it seems to knife through the wind. Mine is a 14* so the face is the perfect size to feel comfortable teeing the ball up or just ripping it off the fairway. This is BY FAR the best fairway wood I have ever owned, and believe me, I have owned many!

I've had a 15.5' SS-1.5 for a little while now and would have to say it is up there with the best that I have ever hit. Just as good as the TM TPs and as solid as any other Sonartec. In my opinion it's only behind the Nike T60. The SS-1.5's CG keeps it at a low-mid ball flight. The head is very nice, not too big, not too small. The face height is great as well, except for those who tee their FWs high. I hit it off the deck just fine and off the tee I just tee it low and let it shoot itself.

i did exactly the same thing (buying it brand new from 3balls for $ 99) and i think exactly the same thing. this is an unbelievable golf club. unlike other posters i don't think that the ballflight is particularily low. but that might be, because i used a 13* 3wood for years and now i have the sonartec, that has 15.5* loft. but even with this higher ballflight it just cuts through the wind, when the wind is against and it goes long and long and longer. it sits so nicely behind the ball, it gives you wonderful feedback, when you hit it and you can work it without any risk over overdoing it and ending up hooking or slicing. it is also great from the light rough. also, i believe that the penley shaft is a really good shaft, at least for my swing. i've only used it on two rounds so far in wet and cold weather, but this club alone made those winter rounds worthwhile.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.
