What kind of paint to use on an old putter head?

Looking to re-paint my old Seve Ballesteros putter head.

 

Here is what the putter looks like (this one is not mine but in similar condition):

Not sure on what kind of paint to use on the head and for the fillings.

For the paint, remove the existing paint with acetone. You can find new paint at an hobby supply store. Tamiya makes really great paint and Testors make good paint as well.

I would use a gun blue instead of paint on the head. Birchwood Casey Super Blue is an easy to find product find and use.

You can do the gun blue after you paint it. The blue will not affect the paint.

So, what is better? No advice or advice with the best of intentions but no accurate information? The finish on your putter will most likely not come off with Acetone. It is probably a wrinkle finish powdercoat that was used pretty widely at the time your putter was produced. Best bet for removing it is either finding someone with a media blaster and some medium grit aluminum oxide or just good ole sand paper and do it in stages.
As for the gun blue, once again, a great idea, but your putter is cast stainless steel and the blue will not have any effect, whatsoever. You could try a heat induced finish, using a MAPP gas or Propane torch, but that is dependent upon your experience and comfort level with a torch.
No short cuts on refinishing that putter, sorry to say.

Can you identify the type of Metal?
is stainless?

For almost all paint work it PREPERATION,
clean, remove paint, clean, maybe steel wool or green pad, prime , green pad paint

If its stainless you can try a darkener

you could also try an auto paint remover, such as Tal Strip. i've used that before in leiu of acetone when i really wanted to get a project moving.

Use a self etching primer, and some krylon flat black spray paint. let it cure. BOOM.
