Trash, Treasure or Garage Sale??

Recommended Posts

My father-in-law gave me some older clubs..like the title says is it trash treasure or garage sale?

I have a 1&4 wood with what appears to be the original grips and shafts. The grips have "Classic" and what looks like a G and a P in a V shape. The crown has "Hand Fitted" on it in what looks like ink. The face has a golf club logo and "Custom" in what looks like lacquer. The sole has "Custom" and made in the U.S.A. on it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. The 4 wood is identical to the 1 wood. I have some other clubs that he gave me I will post those later, lets start with these two.

I also have to apologetically say trash. Sorry buddy.

You could take them to the range and give em a whack though, I love hitting old clubs, it's really fun!
[/quote] No apology needed. Thanks. I think the kids will have fun beating them up. Lol

So I am guessing the MacGregor DX2 woods and mathcing irons are trash as well.

MacGregor Tourney DX2 irons from 1964-65? Verrry nice, that's a lovely old set, well worth looking after. I'm guessing the DX woods match the set, Tourney WOX2 looks to be the stamp above the soleplate, but there will be others on here with far more knowledge on macGregor woods. The Custom woods? Above answers, sadly, are spot on!

I believe the Custom woods are out of the old Golf Day component catalog from the 1970s. One of the earliest component suppliers.

I know they don't have the panache of MacGregor persimmon, but I wouldn't toss them before I tried them.
