Edel Putters

I used to be a horrible putter (let's be clear, everyone wants to putt better)- but I did not put well. I started taking lessons and we started with my putting- and why wouldn't you, it's more than half your strokes.

 

My coach did the strangest thing- he attached a mirror to my putter, put a ball in front of it and had me line up to a hole with a laser behind it. He asked, are you lined up. I said yes. He said, are you sure? Of course. He removed the ball to allow the laser to bounce off the mirror and low and behold I was aimed 2 feet left. 2 feet. On an 8 foot putt. 2 feet.

 

I said... come on. He said your stroke is a natural correction of the fact that you can not line up your putter correctly. My putter which was an expensive recent edition by a name brand company. Eye dominance, face preference, line location... all of it impacts how you see the line.

 

We then commenced a 45 minute process of finding a face (6 options) a hozel (32 options) and line location to line me up perfectly every time. Once we had that figured out, we weighted the shaft in the butt of the club and by the putter head until we had weight control.... so now I can aim all my putts perfectly, and hit them the distance I want.

 

My putter is truly the worst putter for you (more than likely!) but the system and the product are unbelievable. I can't say enough good things about it. So, get fitted. Spend the money. You will switch out every club in your bag. Your ball. Your shoes. Your hat. Your wfie/husband. But this is your putter for life.

 

Oh, and I have the superstroke fatso on it.... I wish the whole game was played on the greens.....

Nice. I just got an Edel about 2 months ago. What did your fitter say about you using the Fatso grip instead of the round Edel grip? I am tempted to take the round grip off and use a SuperStroke slim. I go back and forth as to whether or not I like the round grip.

I like the round grip. It lets me worry about the face not my grip.

It's amazing how badly most good players aim. If it wasn't for the subconscious, no one would ever make a friggin' putt.
