Wilson Kirk Currie Putters

FYI - G.Galaxy - $29.99

For those interested, Golf Galaxy's website has the Wilson Staff Kirk Currie putters down to $29.99 now. Not the greatest putters around, but for that price - what the heck?!?

I went ahead and ordered one of each - KC1, KC3 Heel, KC3 Center, and a KC4. All 4 for less than one would have cost originally. I think these were $179 and had gone down to $129 a month or so ago, then they had been holding at $99. I checked yesterday and they were marked $29 so I went ahead and ordered. They don't offer the KC2 which probably would have been the one I'd want the most! Not sure how long they will be in stock though. I had to get 35" in a couple because the 34" were already gone.

FYI...what's left of the Hogan/Bettinardi putters are $69 now, down from $99. The Bobby Grace Mini GT Heel is down to $129.

12-21-06 UPDATE: Looks like the only one of the Curries left is the KC4 Mallet. Those things went fast once they hit $29.99!

I just ordered the KC1.

If I remember it feels alot like a Heavy Putter with all of the weights in it.

Good feel though, all of the Curries have good feel.

Has anyone tried replacing the grip on these? Everyone I've ever seen had a crooked grip, and I'm not sure if there's another grip you could use the weight system on. It's not a drop in like a Balance Certified, it's got a cap on the end that holds the weights secure.

Somebody told me once that you can use various grips, you just cut the whole top cap of the grip off after you install it to make room for the weight. I'll probably experiment with one of them when I get them - I remember the stock grip being pretty large - I'll probably want a smaller grip. Of course I'm not too worried about it, I doubt there is a huge chance that I'll replace my normal "gamers" with one of these.

I know what you mean though - several of the ones I have seen locally have had crooked grips!

Yeah, it's some big wrap grip with a goofy plastic cap.

I was thinking the cap might fit over one of the older Winns. Or we might be able to cut the cap down to just the support piece and drop that in.

I think Currie licensed the grip weight system from Balance before he went to Wilson, but I'm not certain.

They're pretty similar.

Oh man - that Japanese blade is sweet. Adjustable weighting in an 8802 style! The Japanese golf market has so much cooler stuff than we do! I wonder if they look at the U.S. versions and think the same thing?!?

I thought the caps on the Currie grips were actually a lightweight aluminum, not plastic though...seems like when I had a KC4 last year that it was metal.
