My Opinion about... College golf/Handicaps/Tournaments

Alright guys, I am not an expert and i am not trying to sound like one but i wanted to try and clear up or tell you guys about a few things that have been posted on the junior golf part.

College Golf

There are alot of ways to play college golf. No one on this website should get discouraged by anyone else's opinions on what it takes to play college golf. There are D1 schools, D2 schools, D3, NAIA, etc. College golf is more important to some people than others. Coaches are looking for players that will fit into thier team the best and be able to make a contribution. I have read alot about what is takes to play college golf on the site lately. Play TOURNAMENTS, contact coaches, do whatever possible to get your name in the coaches faces so they know you want to play for them. You can't sit back and think that they will flock to you, because it probably won't happen.

Handicaps

Many guys on here have been listing differnt handicaps it takes to play certain levels of college golf. I think that handicaps are a little mis guideing to some people. College coaches aren't specifically going to look at your handicap. They are going to look at your tournament resumes and educational grades. I don't think you really can put a handicap limit on where you can play golf at. I think it all matters about how you play in tournaments and how well you can sell yourself to the coaches. Don't be misunderstood and don't let anyone discourage you from playing golf. Go out and play in as many tournaments as you possible can. It will help.

Tournaments

I think that any tournament can be a good tournament. You are out there to beat everyone and the course. If you want to play the best then go play AJGA, Western Junior, Junior Orange Bowl, Hudson Junior, US Junior, US Amateur, etc.... and get your name out there. There are so many golf tours in the US that you can't go wrong with any tournament. I think the best thing for a junior golfer is to have tournament experience. That is one of the biggest parts of getting ready for college golf and beyond.
