My brother owns these clubs, and I tend to "borrow" them from him often. I really enjoy using these clubs. They are very forgiving, and the offset really helps me keep the ball straight and high, especially when I have a messed up lie either on the fairway or the rough when compared to my BH-5's that have little offset.

Also, and this is really shallow b/c they are just golf clubs, they are just beautiful. It's like jewlery for your golf bag.

Thanks,

plain and simple i love these irons, oddly enough ive been fitted and I can buy straight from the rack, no adjustments. I just went from my graphite cfts to steel and i love them more then ever. Its the best of both worlds, cft= cross forged titanium. Hot like titanium but with more feel, extremely forgiving.

Not to be an Word not allowed, but CFT is for Compression Forged Titanium :pimp:

I agree, these are absolutely fantastic game improvement clubs. If I didn't get such a good deal on my Callaway BB'04's, these would have been in my bag. Also, this is kind of a blessing. Most people don't look at these clubs when shopping around b/c the Hogan brand doesn't seem to be what it used to. So you can pick these clubs up for rather cheap on e-Bay (seen some sell for $205 new, 3-PW, No Hybrid). And chances are much higher that they are legit as who would go through the effort of making bogus Hogan Clubs when they are not in demand.

The downside is that if you try to sell them, they're kinda tough to offload.

Thanks,

I played with 'em for a year. Nice irons over all. Here are my impressions:

Pros: huge sweetspot and relatively nice feel with on-center contact. Especially nice on long irons. Coupled with low kick shaft (Edge) the long iron shots had plenty of height. The shaft, by the way, is very nice.

Cons: Center of gravity is too low for the short irons. Result: balooning 8, 9 and P iron shots. Because of ballooning, all 3 irons went the same distance. Grooves are too aggressive on all the irons. It cut up all my balls very quickly. Too much offset. Better players won't like this because shots will go left. Face is a bit too hot. Again, chipping shots or bump and run shots with shorter irons is very tough.

I currently play these irons with steel #3 shafts and really like them. They replaced King Cobra II irons and the biggest difference is a gain of at around 10 yds with the 4 & 5 irons and about 15 yds with the 3-iron. Easiest long irons I've hit. However, if I'd been aware that Hogan was releasing the new Apex Edge, I'd probably have waited and bought those.

I recently bought them used to replace my Wilson ProStaff AD irons. I like the feeling so far. My previous irons had graphite shaft and i hit them pretty well but the trajectory was really high. I seem to hit the Hogan a bit lower and hope to get a slight advantage in lenght (can't see right now, only hit them in a dome since it's -30 celsius here outside). One thing I noticed is that I don't seem to generate as much speed as with my old irons. The Hogan have regular steel flex and my older irons had regular graphite. Othe than the fact that graphite shafts have .5" more in length, what could cause this? The weight? I want to point out that I unfortunately don't have numbers proving that, it's just a feeling. I know I swung my old 7-iron around 90mph and usually got a 150yds shot with no roll (a really high shot). What do you think I should get with the Hogan? Thanks

I bought these late last year and finally had a chance to play a few rounds with it. I was pleasantly surprised at the performance. I had a set of Apex Plus's that I regretted selling a few years back and these surprisingly were comparable. Certainly not the forged feel, but still solid feeling. The shape, size and offset indicate more of a GI iron, but I could work the ball with the right ball. Plenty of forgiveness and good distance. A real sleeper iron here.

I owned a set of these for two years. I was generally very pleased with them but felt they hit the ball a little too high, probably due to the undercut channel lowering the centre of gravity. I found that on windy days the ball flight caused problems. They were not that easy to keep down. Also, my experience of the grooves echos a previous poster. They shredded balls with alacrity. In fact, I could slice the skin off my thumb if I rubbed them along the grooves. They are a great set for the improving golfer.

Traded a set of Adams A2, 5 to W + 2 hybrids for a set of Hogan CFT's. Played yesterday shot 74, LOVE these irons. Have not had a mid to low seventy for 2 years. The rifle FCM, flighted 5.5 shafts are perfect for me nicer (higher) trajectory than the Adams and much more forgiving with a baby draw. I thought at 61 I needed a couple of hybrids....Nope, hit the CFT 3 and 4 irons very nicely. Looking forward to my next round with them....

THese are great clubs. Read the date on this review and the last one, these clubs are for real! I've had the opportunity to play more this year and after 6 rounds I finally faced the fact that I am losing too many strokes playing my Mizuno MP32 and MP37 mixed set. I decided to re-try my old Edge CFT's and shot my lowest 9 ever, 2 under 33! The front was a 44 as I was still in a daze from getting up early, but it's the best round I've had in years. They are very forgiving clubs, and acurrate. On 17 I put a 6 iron 30 inches from the cup 163 into the wind! For those of you looking to lower your scores, besides trying new clubs, I strongly recommend getting some good golf books and putting them to use! Dave Pelz's "Putt Like the Pros" has helped my putting tremendously! Also his book "Short Game Bible" is great as well. For strategy I started Raymond Floyd's "The Elements of Scoring" and I think that really helped me stave off some poor holes today despite not having my 'A' game off the tee, or to start with period. Sorry if there's another section for book reviews, but I thought I'd put this out there as I know the folks reading this their main goal is to get better at golf, so I thought I'd share.

I go these in 2004 after my other worn out blades were stolen. The offset on these clubs helped me develop a four year span of shanking. The larger heads, for me, made chipping difficult as they were easier to chunk, and, of course, shank. The ball really popped off the face for chipping though. This made it tough for me. I have since gone to the 710MB blades and love them.
