Calling all Hampton Roads/Tidewater/Virginia Beach Golfers!

Fellas, fellas, fellas.....I just moved back to the area after 10 years in Chattanooga, and I am looking for some guys to golf with. I often play with my brother-in-law at Cedar Point, where he's a member, but I live in Greenbrier and can neither afford to play a private country club every week, nor do I have the desire to drive out to suffolk all the time.

 

I've played Stumpy Lake, Cahoon Plantation, VB National, Cypress Creek, Battlefield Golf Course (semi-dog track), Chesapeake Golf Club, HoneyBee and Bide-A-Wee and Bay Creek a number of times. I'm open to playin new places, and enjoy meeting new guys to get out and play with.

Bottom line is...I wanna make more friends here who love the game and are decent guys. I guess I'll just write the rest of this like a personal ad and let you decide if you'd like to get out and play some time haha

 

I'm 29, former college baseball player(Played locally at Greenbrier Christian. Teammates with BJ Upton back in 01-02....dude is a stud. Glad he's come 'home' to Braves' country), former high school head baseball coach. I've been playing just over 2 years, I'm a 15 handicap, but hit a lot of good golf shots and not justin saying that. Struggle with accuracy from the tee at time and scoring around the green. I putt like Stevie Wonder, but I'm working on it. I'm a big guy 6'4 285, and hit the ball a pretty long ways...285+. Don't drink, smoke, or cuss....so if any of those tend to ruin your round, I may be your guy haha. I prefer riding to walking, but am definitely open to whatever. I work for a non-profit and my wife and I are saving to buy a home here(which is 2x as expensive as Chattanooga....love that btw :angry22: ) so money certainly doesn't grow on trees, but I am not looking to play Battlefield regularly if that makes sense. While I hope to eventually get to single digits or below, my game is well-suited for a captain's choice, as I can help from the tee and fairway pretty well. I won't embarrass you or your group of guys...I dress the part (I should probably just buy stock in Nike Golf and Footjoy, as I spend a lot of money with those guys anyways). I also have a players bag(See sig below), and can talk/BS like a player as well. I'm on my way to being a good golfer, just need some more time. Typically shoot in the low 90's counting every stroke, broken 90 5 times. Last but not least, I am in love with the game of golf. Talking it, practicing it, watching it, playing it.

 

There...I did it...that was weird, it was awkward...and I'm sure I'll catch hell for it, but ya know what? I'm tired of feelin like Old Tom Morris....being "single" sucks. Let's hook up!

I lived in newport news , williamsburg area for about six years. The best thing i ever did was joined williamsburg cc . Great bunch of guys.
I also found out when i first moved to the area that there were a lot of skins games in that area if you know where to look. I remember there was always one once or twice a week at a course called the Hamptons in Hampton. By getting in these, i quickly learned to know all the golfing buddys i could handle. Call around. Things change but im sure they still have these. Most of them are open to anyone who wants to play. Not real big money either. Good luck.

I moved from the area about a year ago- there is a good men's group at Cahoon that plays Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays in the summer.
