Side-trip to Pinehurst?

We are heading down to Myrtle and thinking of making a pit stop for the night at Pinehurst. Although the hotel is booked and we won't be able to play any of the courses (unless any of you guys can hook a brother up), I am wondering if its worthwhile stopping in.

 

Is the resort worth visiting for a few hours? history, memorabilia, pro-shop, the bar, clubhose, the grounds etc.

 

We would most likely stay offsite but spend a few hours over there...Worth it?

A trip to the pro shop and lunch at the Donald Ross Grill is always good.

 

Bring your putter and roll out to the massive practice green.

 

Worth it for sure!!

yea definately worth it. take a look around the club house...lots of scorecards, pictures, autographs, etc from past tourneys. and the massive putting green is sweet, take a few rolls. and they dont check the range, just walk right on

The resort hotel is very nice but not worth going to see. The clubhouse, a different structure, is first rate. Practice facility a-one. Pro shop perfect. Members only bar wonderful. Pictures great, etc. Worth going hours out of your way? Not in my opinion. Go the the beach and have a cocktail. Make another golf trip to Pinehurst and then look at all the stuff. Won't take an hour to look at it anyway.

I do recommend heartily going to Pinehurst Village someday. Lots of shops, few bars, stroll around. Well worth it, but not when you are headed to MB and have to go out of your way.

Thanks for the input...kind of a toss up...would cut the drive down from Toronto by 3 hours and we were thinking of playing Tobacco Road Golf club on the Sunday then making our way to Myrtle. Thanks for the input. It will be a last minute call.

There are some I know who would say that without question Tobacco Road is not worth going out of the way for! Three extra hours at the Masters, Thee Doll House or Crazy Horse would certainly beat out Tobacco Rd for me!

Have a great time. Go to Rossi's for dinner especially if you like garlic.

Tobacco Road is worth it as a stop by.. the people there are great and the course is very fun.

 

Pick up a yardage book and have a great time. :)
