NYC-Accessible Course for a tournament?

Thinking about hosting a company tournament. Office is in NYC, lots of employees live in the city with no car. So, public transport-accessible courses are preferred.

 

I live in NJ and drive wherever I go so I don't know - any good ideas for NYC-accessible courses that will accomodate?

What about renting a bus that leaves from Port Authority? Then it really doesn't matter where you play - for the most part.

There is not one reasonable option for public transportation to a golf course from NYC that a casual golfer would want to endure. Don't get me wrong, there are options but those are only for people that really like golf and are willing to make some sacrifices to play. I assume most of the people that will be part of the outing are "casual" golfers at best if not complete rookies and would probably not be fond of taking an hour long subway ride followed by a 2 mile walk with clubs (Dyker Beach) or a 45 min LIRR train ride than cab ride (Bethpage). I suggest renting a bus or just having everyone rent cars (spilt 4 ways is not that bad). Good luck!

NYC Golfer - You're forgetting about the fact that its a day on the course instead of in the office. Shoot, I'd go out to long island for a day of walking on coals for a free extra day off...

Thanks, I'll look into the Pelham course, looks like the Staten Island ones might be an option too...anyone have experience with those?

It's definitely true that NYC courses require some definite sacrifices. That walk from the subway to Dyker is pretty legit, I've done it many times.

Best options suggested so far involve a bus going somewhere else. I've heard good things about Westchester courses like Saxon Woods as far as accessibility goes.

Van Courtlandt in the Bronx is a 5 min walk from the 1 Train. I think that's your best bet.
Other than that, Marine Park is a short bus ride from Flatbush Avenue (1,2,4,5 subway lines)

Saxon's (right on/off the Hutch) not a bad course at all as far as the County courses go. Same goes for Sprain Lake (right on/off) the Sprain.
