Changing Chrome Irons To Satin...

GUYS I NEED HELP! I currently have a set of Mizuno Mp-59s and I'm getting a little tired of the chrome finish. I was wondering if there was any way I could take the chrome of to just show the satin layer underneath. Also, if there is a way, will this do anything to the playability of the club? Any help is greatly appreciated! THANKS!

Get a satinizing wheel from Golfworks, no it won't affect play as long as you're careful around the face

A fellow named SPOON put a satin finish on a new set of very expensive Japanese clubs over at the [url="http://www.tourspecgolf.com/forum/"]http://www.tourspecgolf.com/forum/[/url] some time back. He posted his procedure complete with pictures and did a pretty good job with the clubs. I was very impressed with his results.

There is no satin layer underneath the chrome.

I never bothered to make the search again as I thought it would be easy enough to find or PM Spoon for the thread. I'm rather surprised that you cannot see the pictures but registration is free so the solution is simple. If you read the thread you might notice that Spoon did the whole thing manually regardless that he has machines available. He did it the slow way to keep close control of the process. Even without the pictures, the thread was very detailed and should not be difficult to follow.

Hello

I used a sand blaster that I have at work, and at auto body shops have them too. I pulled the heads taped off several places that I wanted to protect like the faces and the backs where the logo are. I even did the shafts to take the glare off of them too. Then This year I pulled the shafts and replaced them with White KBS and the satin heads looks even better with the all white shaft.
The satin look is much more pleasing to the eye I think then chrome in the sunshine. I wish you the best with your project you can't go wrong with it.

I have bead blasted and polished hundreds of clubs and I have never like the blasted look on the entire club head. It just looks weird to me. I have always satin polished the club head and then taped off the heel and toe and then media blasted the face. That's the way a club is supposed to look to me. :dntknw:
