What do you think?

I'll just start off and say I'm loving it. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Sweet HD picture quality and a great mix of announcers. :rolleyes: :cheesy: :)

They make the Golf Channels coverage from weeks prior look even worse. Man, I never thought I'd miss Jim Nantz so much. LOL

Anyone else???

I absolutely agree. The CBS guys are great and it seems like Nick Faldo is much better when he doesn't get a chance to babble all the time. I can't wait for Gary McCord to come back because he's the perfect compliment to David Feherty. They're both the ultimate personalities for announcing golf. Extremely funny but very knowledgeable. A+++++

It is so nice to still have CBS coverage still. I have stated that Tirico is the Best, but Nance is so, so smoooooooth. Makes you realize how Bush league the GC is, and just how bad Tillman is. I still say get Tirico in there and a better producer, and the GC could do so much better.

Thank God we still have CBS. Looking foward to the Masters.

I agree 100%. Faldo was so much better not having to carry the entire broadcast. He is a personality best taken in smaller doses.

I just wish the GC would find a better partner for Faldo. Someone to carry the telecast play-by-play, and give Faldo an opportunity to shut up for a while.

Don't get me wrong, I like Faldo, just not so blinking much Faldo.

Or as Lanny would say.....NO question Jimmy.......

I have to agree with Kelly Tillman, she is great as a host on GC Post/Pregame but just doesn't have it with the actual live golf coverage. That usually ends up leaving Faldo having to babble on for hours. :rolleyes: Tirico would be a nice addition to the Golf Channel. They have to figure out something to bring the level up. I even liked USA's and TNT's coverage way more than the GC.

I'll also add my first post wasn't a slam against Nantz. After re-reading my first post, it sort of looks like a back handed comment. I really think he is one of the best. I agree, really smooth. Very easy to listen to.

in britain we have cbs and golf channel do the commentating and stuff for our setanta sports and one thing that annoys me with your coverage is that there is adverts every 2 minutes and they show more of the scenary and people in hot air balloons than the golf!!! PLUS they have the camera in a good down the line view for the shot and then just before they are about to take the shot the view changes to birds eye view, who wants to see that?!?!? I want to be able to see there swings.

European Tou coverage on skysports is 10x better.

This might sound a little femme but I like the scenery shots. I have a HD front projector with 110" screen and the scenery shots look incredible. Torrey Pines is really beautiful right off the ocean. The HD on CBS is great!!!

Of course everyone would prefer less advertising. No amount of complaining will change that.

I pretty much echo that. Makes me appreciate just how good of a job they do on the broadcast. I enjoy Faldo much more with the veteran guys surrounding him. He sounds much more comfortable in that enviroment. Better camera and on course coverage as well. And MUCH less meaningless chatter. :yahoo:

But same problem as the golf channel too much talk, and not enough showing of the actual golf tournament.

I liked that it wasn't all putting all the time. There was decent game continuity and some good closeups. I'd still like more technical analysis and more "experience" immersion. And the commentary could be a little more educational: Like when Tiger did his ball drop on #11, there was hardly any explaination of what happened and why. I actually got my answer from golfwrx in near real time, but how many viewers were left wondering what the heck just happened?

I think that the CBS guys compliment Faldo well in that he doesn't seem to be trying to be as funny so much of the time. I enjoy Jim Nantz and especially love Feherty. Mike Tirico drives me insane. It's bad enough to see him on Monday Night Football babbling like an idiot.....please don't bring him back to the golf booth. I dread his commentary during the British and U.S. Opens.

Totally agree. When Faldo carries the golf channel coverage, it becomes a one person show. Everyone else just fills in. CBS brings class. I'm waiting to see how NBC covers the tour next week.
