Need some help, local tourney series.

First off I apologize is this is in the wrong section.

So I have been approached by a few golf courses locally about running a tournament series next year. I have ran several events in the archery world, my other hobby but im guess it will be a little different. So what i would like from you guys is ideas and suggestions to make a great tournament series that would be fun for most. I have put together some basic ideas and would love for some opinions. I know it will be time consuming and alot of leg work. Here is what I have thrown together so far. Thanks in advance.

4-6 courses.

Each of the courses will be played twice.

Points will be awarded for all events.

Total of 5 classes. (A, B, C, D, and Championship)

Class placement will be determined by handicap.

Tournament Director can and will move players based on tournament scores.

After each course has been played once, players will vote on what course will hold the tour championship.

Each event will be a 18 hole stroke play event.

Players that are moved up a flight during the year will retain 80% of their point but that cannot place them higher than 4^th place.

Players that move down a flight during the year will retain 90% of their points but that cannot place them higher than 6^th place.

All USGA rules will apply. Course rules also apply.

Players will receive gift cards or gift certificate to the host club or other golf stores.

Players can waive there amateur right a receive a cash prize.

No prize will exceed $750 in prizes or gift cards unless player waives his amateur status.

newbie... i like what you have so far. I host a few tournaments with a group of friends throughout the year. Never done a series with point standings though. Sounds very exciting.

I may try to gauge interest with my friends as a 4-man best ball or maybe 2-man best ball.

Sounds like you don't need help at all.

Only thing I can add is changing the distances based on flight.

I've played in a couple local tours. The guys that I play with now play an event every other week for 8 months out of the year.

Thanks guys. I'm just trying to get things organized. What do you think is a fair entry fee. And should it be the same for every class or should it go up slightly for each better class.

Entry fee the same across the board.

I would just add $20 to the rack rate. If the normal course cost is $70, I would charge $90.

You will have $20 for prizes and your time.

Have a Skins game. Or have a Best front/Best back. Or have a final 5 holes game.

You want to ensure the courses and the players love the events: Have a pace of play clock at 9 and 18. Must punch your scorecard...automatic penalties for being out of place! Ensure pace of play...tournies can end up 5.5 hr rounds because people play/act different.

Recommend Visa cards instead of golf club or store cards....we all generally have enough equipment and don't want to have to pay the extra high cost at a course and some retail stores.

A travelling trophy or overall winner trophy would be nice.
