Downtown Dallas Courses?

Visiting a friend in Dallas soon who lives near downtown. We are thinking about going to play one of the public courses near downtown. I know there are tons of great courses further out but we thought about trying something new and not driving very far. Anyone played these? If so, any thoughts?

Stevens Park

Keeton Park

 

And Tenison is an option as well. I've played the Highlands before...it isn't a bad track.

I've played Cedar Crest recently and the greens were pretty bad.. Just horrendously slow. Otherwise a neat course. Stevens park is also neat.. but it dies have 5 par 3s.

Overall I'd play Tennison Highlands.

Tennison is a good layout however I've never found the greens to be all that good.

Cedar Crest is in great shape right now but as mentioned above the greens are slow as hell. Still its a really cool track, great layout.

Stevens was recently redone and its also a very cool place to play. Greens roll okay but I've found all the greens to be unusually firm and not very receptive.

Tennison is really fun but a little expensive on a Saturday mornings at $60+ and its in the middle of the ghetto. Stevens Park is a great track. Has some really short and funky par 4's and a few elevated holes that allow you to see the Dallas skyline. However, it has a few perfectly square greens and no driving range.

I'm not sure I'd characterize Tennison as in the middle of the ghetto.. (Cedar Crest is definitely).

I'd second the vote for Golf Club of Dallas. Very cool, old school layout and clubhouse, very friendly staff, and can be found on golfnow for $25 most days. Also the green are in excellent shape for the middle of January!

Stevens is one my favorites totally different layout then the normal traditional lay out, especially the back 9
