Cashiers/Highlands, NC Golf

Anyone have suggestion for playing some of the private courses in this area? I live in eastern NC, retired and have a 9 hdcp. Can play any day of the week. PM me if you wish.

Season tends to run 4/1-10/31...

There are frequent charity tourneys early in the season.... But the only way to play regular is to join one....

Or play Sky Valley, Sapphire Natioal and Redbird...

But they are all a step down...

Good luck getting on any of them without knowing a member. But there is not a bad choice among them.

You can get on Old Edwards Club, formerly Highlands Cove. It is a great course, but not cheap.

Of the public courses, I would choose Sky Valley. It is not on the level of HCC or Wade, but is a very enjoyable course.

CCSV is awesome, but private as well.

I haven't been to Balsam, but have heard good things about it. It is private, but I think a little easier to pull off.

Just dont play High Hampton, it is the worst course i have ever played!!!!

Ive played that Sapphire Valley course a couple times and its really fun. There are some serious elevation changes on that course. I also got a chance to play once out at Lake Toxaway CC. That was one of the nicer courses ive ever played.

Nephew only has a couple hours tomorrow morning... So I'm gonna slum it at Redbird....

High Hampton is interesting short layout, but conditioning is always spotty and it is frequently very wet...

I might could play Sunday morning at a nicer club if there are any locals... GHIN 11.5

That is Sapphire National. Sapphire Valley is a very nice Ross layout, and is pretty flat.

I might play Sky Valley tomorrow, depending on the weather.

I checked into options up there earlier this year. Apparently, CCSV has a "member for a day" option where you can play one day if you don't live within a certain radius. I believe that info is available online. I would also recommend Trillium Links. That course used to be closed on Mondays for maintenance IIRC, but otherwise, it's a great layout and scenic in spots.

Sequoyah was in great condition as of a month ago. Course is not very friendly if you aren't good at target golf. Scenery is nice and LOTS of elevation change, but it's a mountain course, so that is to be expected. Only caveat with condition.....they lost the 2nd hole to a mudslide some time back. There is a temporary par 3 set up to start your round and then the 2nd hole you play is actually hole #1.

Bumping this old thread to see if there are any more options in the area. Will be up there next weekend. Have played Old Edwards course and enjoyed it but would like to try another course up there. Any thoughts appreciated.

I’m fairly new to the area in Clayton . Played Brasstown Valley a few weeks ago and enjoyed the views, but the greens were pretty bad. I’d be interested in a private membership if y’all know any clubs that do super executive membership options. I talked with Waterfall and the initiation was wayyy outside of my 22 year old budget unfortunately
