Considering having my wedges stripped to raw. Anyone had this done??

My wedges are starting to look pretty beat up. The grooves are all in relatively good shape but the satin/chrome finish is getting beat. I always preferred the look of raw wedges to begin with and have been considering sending them somewhere to get the finish stripped. I was wondering if anyone on here has done this and who you used. I'm also a little worried about changing the feel of the wedges and the amount of weight that will be lost by removing the finish. Ideally I'd love to find somebody that can port them and add weight back instead of installing so much tip weight (they already have lead tape). So, go or no go?? .. and if it's a go who should I send them to. I have two Miura 1957's and a Vokey TVD if it matters.

My friend stripped his 588s and sprayed salt water all over it so they could rust. Looks pretty sick to me.

I'm not meaning to hijack your thread but I didn't want to start a new one (and probably in the wrong section) but does anyone know of a good step by step tutorial of how to put custom paintfill on vokey wedges? TIA

as for the original question...I can't answer, but am curious as well. mine are chrome, and I want the chrome stripped (chemical mess of a process I think). I have phoned an auto body place as well as a chrome plating company and both said they wouldn't do it.

i'm sure it would take an auto body type place no time at all...just have to find one that will do it.

I'd say just try and take some 600+ grade sandpaper to it then some steel wool after it to finish it. Love the look of the clean raw finish when I did it to mine. Only takes a few minutes

Man I've hand sanded my chrome vokey and there is no way it took me only a few minutes.

I might try and find a tutorial/video of someone doing it by hand (s paper/wool) and give it a try. I'm nursing a broken bone anyways and haven't played in over month so it'd give me something to do.
