To Cuff or not to Cuff

I have pair of flat front Callaway slacks that ar unhemmed. I have lots of flat front slacks with no cuff, and lots of pleated front with cuffs, my question is, is it a fasion no no to have flat front slacks with a cuff? I was thinking about rocking them with a cuff, but sometimes a flat front deserves the clean lines.

Avoid pleats unless you want to look like a window treatment.

From a "fashion" standpoint, one would traditionally wear cuffs only with pleated trousers. Having said that, style icons and screen legends such as Gary Cooper, Jimmy Stewart, Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire used to wear flat fronts with cuffs. Tiger Woods does so today if you look closely. It doesn't necessarily ruin the lines of the trousers if worn as such and provides additional heft at the bottom. Personally, I prefer and wear a full-cut flat front trouser with cuffs in honor of those gentlemen from the past who understood that it's about style, not fashion. As my grandfather told me, fashion is what's given to you; style is what you have! Make sure yours reflects you!

Your first post was a very good one, I agree on your def. of fashion, and style. I think I 'll fold them up and see what I like best. I have a feeling just from the lines of these pants I'll go flat no cuff, but we'll see.

For me, no cuffs ever on pants that I wear on the course. I think it tends to trap dirt and grass in them during a round. Of course, that is easily solved afterward with a good washing, but nonetheless, I'd still rather not have anything stuck in the folds.

 

Off the course, I have both cuffed and non-cuffed pants. That's a different story.

What about cuffed shorts? I've been rocking a pair of '90 Z.Cavaricci shorts with quad pleats and a cuff, lately. Personally I think they look smart and sharp. Paired with a classic vertical stripe Op polo and thin black faux gator belt, it's a nice look.
