Hogan wedges (PICS)

Okay guys, maybe ya'll can help me over here. I posted a topic in the tech forum and got great information on what I was asking, now I'm looking for more info from some of you Hogan experts. I have two wedges, a fifty three wedge and a sure out 60* wedge, I know there at least mid 80's but possibly earlier due to the pins in the hosel. Both wedges have different emblems as seen in the pictures below, hopefully you guys can give me an idea of when these where released. Thanks for the help!

I'm sure others with more knowledge will be along shortly, here's what I know: the sure-out was made from 1964-1983 but they never had any identifiers (serial #s), as far as I know, to narrow it down. The grip on it, for what its worth, looks to match what was on my 1967 Hogan PC7's when I purchased them. And by the way, it really is a great sand club.

I'm afraid I can't help with the other one.

The Fifty-Three is a 53* "gap" wedge (I have checked the loft on more than one and all have been 53*) my belief is The Ben Hogan Company replaced their "Utility Wedge" from the earliest precision sets through the late 60's with the Fifty-Three which was later replaced with the "F" wedge...mainly speculation but the time line makes sense.

Hi. The Sure Out was originally released in 1965. It was released in 2005. I do not know when the lettering was switched from red to black. It looks like around "68 or "69".
The Fifty Three was released in 1980-83 with the medallion sunburst and then again in 1999 with the Apex line.
Maltby sells a book on Golf Works on golf club identification. It was about $15.00.

I couldn't agree more being great out of the sand. I was also shocked at how well the sure out opens up, I have no problem with tight lies with it. I have paired these up with some Macgregor JN Muirfield originals and an old Macgregor #10 putter with its original grip. The putter matches my DX 2's from 1964, awesome as well. Still on the lookout for some good Persimmon woods to go with the set, also have some old wound balls to play with. Thanks again for everyone's input, and Grumpy I think I will invest in that book you were talking about...

the book is a must if you are intrested in vintage clubs. the funny part is it was never intended for this purpose. it was published as a trade in guide for club pros for when members traded in their old gear. i am on my second one as i wore the first one out-lol
