Anyone played EMPIRE LAKES before. Its in Rancho Cucamonga. They play a nationwide tour event there in late september.

If you have please tell me what you thought and any hints you might have for playing there.


I am gonna play there tomorrow.

Normally that course is in great shape- it is actually easy to me for some reason. I think all palmer courses are easy tho. Great course cool layout. Go low or go home :drinks:

As jdhallissey mentioned the course is pretty easy if your decent ball striker and it's usually in great shape. I've caddied for the nationwide there the last couple of years, and the course is completely different. The greens are little faster and harder, and rough is about 3 inches deeper when they play. Also the par 5 hole 6 they play as a par 4. Oh and if you want an idea as to how long Bubba Watson is the last time he played there he hit 3 wood over the green off the tee on hole 3.

Yea if you go over the water I believe it is only 270 to clear the water- I would put money on it that i can hit it over that water too with my 3 wood onto that green- it is just stupid golf. That is why i am playing bad, I need to grow some balls back in my game.

If you're in Temecula for a while you must play Cross Creek! Opposite side of 15. Isolated and just beautiful, no houses lining the course like Redhawk and to me more of a challenge.

It's decent but there are so many better courses in the area it wouldn't be my first choice. For one it's kind of spoiled by being in an industrial area. When televised they use odd camera angles so you don't see all the surrounding commercial buildings. I remember one hole (may have been 18) you can actually play the ball over the commercial buildings and cut the dog leg setting up an easy second shot to the green.

I have played cross creek, and redhawk. I was just at redhawk last weekend. I like them both.

I have this book called REDDOTGOLF, which is a coupon book and I get buy one green free get one free. So I gotta try empire lakes too for that deal.

I like redhawk...great course, some really nice holes.

 

Cross Creek is decent - they are my home course for my SCGA handicap.

 

Has anyone ever tried Moreno Valley? 3 - 9 hole courses, prior Nike Tour course I believe (greens are really tough in the summer - receptive to irons but really fast putting surface). They keep the black tees out so you can play tour distances (assuming you are a single digit handicap) and usually it doesn't get too crowded. Relatively cheap compared to other So. Cal courses on the weekends. I play there almost every Sunday morning and I live in San Diego (a little over an hour drive). Worth it compared to alot of other courses around.

Please elaborate, Cross Creek is usually pristine. What don't you like about the greens?

Of all the time i have played Cross Creek the greens have been slow and chewed up and even bumpy most the time.

I love Red Hawk too and I have talked to one of the pro's there and they are working on getting those greens back into great shape. They are also really soft and bumpy. Cross Creek is also a gimmicky course too. The front is pretty good then the back is just stupid. Tear it apart and rebuild it.

Solid score- I played Red Hawk like i said and shot 74 from the tournament tees- 33 on the back! Cross Creek is an Aurthur Hills design enough said.

if you think this course is "easy" play it right after the nationwide tour. good luck finding your ball.

overall the course is in great shape. the greens are a mess, or at least they were when I was there 2 weeks ago.

 

Redhawk is in good shape, fairways are a lil brown but the greens are legit.

I agree. We usually play right before the Nationwide tour, and course setup to be so difficult,... I acknowledge how good these guys are.

From the nationwide tour tee's it is a 317 carry. I played in the pro am last fall and drove the green and made the eagle putt. It was sligtly into the wind though. Downwind I could imagine a 3 wood getting home, but I would say it would have to be a hell of a shot.
