Repurposing KBS C-Taper -taper tip-shafts

I have a set of irons with KBS C taper shafts and I would like to compare the set of irons to another set. I have a leftover shaft that was in the 3 iron of the first set. I would like to fit the shaft previously in a 3 iron, into a 7 or 6 iron.

Is that possible? If so how?

If it was a .370 parallel tip shaft you can generally tip trim the 3-iron shaft to turn it into 6 or 7 iron shaft but generally not so for tapered tip shafts. If you did put the taper tipped 3-iron shaft directly into the 6 iron head (and butt cut to new length), it would not be an accurate comparison as you would be playing that shaft soft stepped 3 times (about a full flex softer). And if you did try to tip trim it, it wouldn't be a tapered tip anymore so wouldn't fit into a tapered hossel.

Now I doubt you'd want to do this but just for the sake of full disclosure. IF the taper tip shaft had a .370 parallel section above the taper AND IF that parallel section was long enough, you could tip trim it (turning it into a .370 shaft that could be used in a parallel hossel. So if your hossels are actually tapered, you'd have to bore it out to parallel. or you could find another parallel hossel head to use instead of your current ones.

So when you go to install the taper tipped shafts, are the shafts labeled for each iron number?

I don't know how they might be labelled but yes, with tapered shafts a different shaft has to be ordered for each iron. The label under the grip generally lists which iron it was made for but this is not always done in an obvious way or may have been cut off to some degree when the shaft was butt cut for the original installation.
