Putter Fitting?

I think I've finally run out of options and have officially decided that maybe my putter just doesn't fit me. I just want something that I know works and if I miss a putt that I feel I should have made I want to know it was me not the putter. I don't think I'm a very consistent striker while putting. I've picked up the Spider tours (both DJ and JDay) and I'm just not a fan. They look so open to me and I feel like I have to forward press really far to get them to look normal to me. I do like the idea of going to a mallet but I don't like double bend shafts. Anyways what kind of things should I look for when I get a fitting and what effect has a true putter fitting had on you? Thanks in advance for the help!

more so than the putter fitting, what helped me the most was classifying my stroke properly (SBST) and then finding putters that are best for that stroke.

Putter fitting gave me all the information I needed to find a putter that fits my putting stroke. I would recommend a good putter fitter. I've heard the Edel fittings are very useful also.

Ended up buying a Yamada Emperor II because it was pretty. Changed out the shaft to black one, while that was getting done, I borrowed a Versa #1 wide putter from the club. Putted just as well with that, maybe better. I actually just bought one off Ebay to try it again as I hate using the Yamada in bad weather and price was great.

If you're close to Cincy, I would go to Miles of Golf for a putter fitting. They use the Quintic system to help you identify what putter gives you the best roll and then you head out to the putting green to see if the results translate out there. I just went through one last week and it was worth every penny.
